| Cleo the Congo African Grey - N33
Hello, my name is Cleo and I'm an adorable Congo African Grey.
I have been on the rehoming list for a while now so I thought I would give you an update on me and my life. I am still very much a man’s bird, but I only bond with one man so if there are more than one of you in your house I will pick which one will be my favourite! I am believed to be a girl but I have been showing off to the female CAG at my safehouse so my sex is now questionable. I am an elderly bird, at least 40 years old so my next home has to be my last - I am too old to keep moving house! I don't fly but enjoy a wander around the floor, but keep an eye on me as I enjoy a secret nibble. I am a good eater and enjoy a healthy diet of fruit and veg and my daily seed. I also like to have a bit of what you’re eating around dinner time. I am exceptionally quiet and apart from the odd wolf whistle you will barely hear a peep out of me. I enjoy listening to the radio and like it when you talk and sing to me, but I am afraid that I have never mastered 'talking' myself. Now the really important part, as you need to know what you are taking on.....I have an overbonding problem. I tend to pick a person who will become my 'special person' and once I have selected that person then everyone else becomes a 'threat'. My special person has always been male and I don't think that's going to change now. My Daddy can do anything with me and I enjoy tickles and strokes and am quite content to sit on his lap or shoulder all day. However I want nothing to do with anyone else in the house (unless you have food and then I will accept it nicely). Under no circumstances can I live with young children as I am volatile and they simply wouldn’t understand how I can be touched by Daddy but will bite everyone else. Don’t get me wrong if I am in the mood I will wander over to my safe house Mum and sometimes I like to sit on her foot (I have a thing for feet), but she only has to look at me the wrong way and I will bite without warning. My Mum has on occasions managed to get a quick ‘tickle’ in, but she needs to be wary as I am quick for an old bird – haha! Ideally I need to live with a single man who will love me as much as I will love him. Other pets are also out of the question as I like a wander around the floor and don’t want to bump into any cats or dogs or my travels! Other birds are fine as long as they don't land on my cage.
I am in Greenlaw, South East Scotland and I will need a new cage I am afraid.

| Billie & Jamie the Indian Ringnecks 1569 & 1958
Hi! We are Billy (green) and Jamie (blue) and we are Ringneck Parakeets.
We are little birds with humungous personalities. Can you find space in your home and heart for us? I (Billy) am the boss, what I say goes. I am a feisty girl who loves the company of humans and love to have tickles, but I have another passion which is to bite! I love coming out of my cage and sitting with you but don't forget I am there otherwise I will have to remind you..... Jamie loves people too, and when away from his cage he is a nice boy, but he doesn't like to be away from me and panics if he can't see me. He can be quite cage territorial and doesn't like stepping up from his cage but he steps up nicely from others places. We don't mind men or women as long as you can put in the time with us individually and as a pair. I don't think it is a good idea for us to be around children too much because we do find fingers in our cages so very tasty, but then any food that enters our cage is very tasty. We are what are commonly known as birdy dustbins! We will eat anything and everything, we love our fruit, veg and seed and if we see you eating something well it's only fair you share it. I think it is only fair to tell you, Jamie has a fetish, he is one of those "feeders" he loves to feed me, I think he is trying to fatten me up. I don't have the same feelings for him that he has for me, but what can I say? Food is food whatever the source. Because of our love for our own space we have separate cages and it MUST stay this way for the foreseeable future, but currently we are borrowing cages so may need new ones. The cage I am using at the moment has a seed catcher around it, not much good for seed catching but Jamie loves to sit on it so he can feed me without the risk of me having a play with his toes. Spoilsport!! We also need a home with no other birds - We do not like to share our home!
We are in Witham Essex and new cages would be preferable. |
| Mollie the Red Sided Eclectus - N20
Hello, I am Mollie a female Red Sided Eclectus and I am 6 years old.
I am a sweet little girl (to men) but I really do not like women! So that I can be really happy I need to be in a home with a man who can interact daily with me. I am happy enough for a woman to feed and clean me, as long as she doesn't expect to handle me. My current home is very busy and I would be happier in a more quiet home, either as an only bird (so long as you are at home lots to keep me company) or maybe with 1-2 other birds for me to chat to. I laid my first egg last year and decided to remove all my feathers, these are growing back and I promise I will try to stop plucking them altogether when I get settled. I love to be out of my cage but I also love to chew so you will need to keep an eye on me, I love to chew boxes too but that’s OK Mum said. I am not a needy girl and nor am I noisy, just the very occasional Ecki noise for a second or two.
I will need a new cage please but can bring an old one for the time being if you like. I am living in Norfolk/Cambridgeshire borders area.

| Max the Congo African Grey - C165
Hi, I'm Max and I'm a spritely and fun-loving male African Grey of around 9 years young.
I need an experienced forever home and someone to spend time with me. Ok, I might be a bit on the wild side at times and I'm quick on the move and will sometimes try and get you if I can, but I have loads of potential in the right hands. I'm not hand tame but will step onto a perch so you can take me round the house. I do love attention and I love you to help me play with my hanging toys and play tug o war with leather strips. When I'm out of the cage I like to explore and sometimes like to push balls around. I might prefer female companionship and really haven't made my mind up about other birds, animals and children. I'm not a noisy bird generally but sometimes I do like to let you know I'm still here when you've gone to bed. Yes, it's all about me I'm afraid, but I do have my quiet times when I think (but am not quite sure) that I'd like a head scratch from you. I need help with my diet as at the moment I only like things that are not so good for me - so you'll just have to persevere!
I don't have my own cage I am afraid so will need a nice new one (which I will protect!!) and I am in the West Midlands.

| Holly the Orange Winged Amazon & JoJo the Blue Fronted Amazon - SE95 & SE96
Hi, our names are JoJo and Holly. We get on very well together and it would only be right if we went to a forever home together.
We are 5 and 13 years old respectively and we both enjoy chewing our hanging toys until there isn't much left. My safehouse Dad says we are no trouble at all. Although we aren't too keen on being touched all the time, we will let you come close to us and talk to us. We both stay out of the cage most of the day on a very handy perch on top, we often go to sleep here as well as relax here. We will quite happily eat pretty much anything, including your dinner. We come with our own cage because we are so used to it. We do tend to prefer women, as us girls should stick together! We are very happy together, but would really like a forever home, so someone can look after us both and share their food with us! We are not at all fazed by other pets, birds or children so please foster us! We are really very sweet and pretty too!
We are in West Sussex and as previously mentioned we will bring our cage with us. |
| Harpo the Blue Throated Conure - N36
Hello my name is Harpo. I am a Blue Throated Conure looking for a new and happy forever home - can you help?
My Mum and Dad think I might be cage territorial, but I love being out of my cage and having a fly around, then just sitting on your shoulder and falling asleep. I will step up on you, but I really do not like to be touched, just sitting with you is good enough for me. I will snuggle up behind your ear and the more contact I have with you the better behaved I am, so please have lots of patience with me as I will give you so much in return. I love my food and enjoy a wide variety of fruit, veg, seed and the odd biscuit every now and then. I am a playful bird and like to play with bottle tops and pine cones. I prefer men to women and I don't mind dogs or children (as long as they don't try to stroke me). I do not get on with other birds though.
I am in Ashford, Kent and have my own cage. |
| Lulu the Orange Winged Amazon - N49
Hi, I am Lulu an Orange Winged Amazon and I am looking for a new home.
I am a nervous bird and do not like to be handled although I will accept an occassional head tickle from my favourite man. You have to be careful though as I can lull you into a false sense of security! Due to my unpredictable nature I can not be rehomed where there are children. I quite like the company of other birds but do not like any other creatures, and I think I would prefer a quiet home as I am a bit nervous and need to be worked with. I do not step up, and am frightened of hands and sticks so this will be a challenge for you! I enjoy a nice spray - well a girl has to keep her feathers looking good and I am a healthy eater too and will happily eat my fruit and vegetables. Mostly I enjoy being spoken to and will happily chat with you.
I am living in Bolton, Lancashire and am afraid I do not have a cage to call my own. |
| Charlie the Orange Winged Amazon - C187
Hi my name is Charlie and I am a gorgeous Orange Winged Amazon.
I was with my last owner for the past 10 to 15 years and when my Daddy died I felt so lost. I stayed with my Daddies daughter for a while but I couldn’t stay there forever, so now I need a forever home. Occasionally I say “Hello” but I am not the best of talkers - I am willing to learn though. It would seem I have a lot to learn and the main thing is trust. I can’t step up onto hands or a perch, but this doesn’t mean I don’t like to come out of my cage! Simply open the door and I come out on my own and will go back in by myself too. I do like sitting on the top of my cage. I love to be tickled on the top of my head though the cage bars, but only by men, I am not that keen on women. I don’t like children and was always an ‘only pet’ so I don’t know how I feel about sharing my home with other birds or animals.
I am in Bolton, Lancashire and I am afraid that I don’t have a cage. |
| Chuckles the Congo African Grey - SW104
Hello my name is Chuckles the Congo African Grey and I am a really cheeky chappie.
I need a special forever home as I need someone who is home most of the day. I don’t like being on my own and will pluck my feathers and get all stressed out if I am left for too long. You can’t even leave me with other birds for company, as I don’t like birds and am very nervous around them. I won’t come out of my cage if they are around. They have one of those four legged things with a tail here and it’s really funny because I can bark just like him, and I say “Come on Bear” and he comes to my cage! I love my safehouse Daddy and I’ll cuddle up with him and try to feed him. I have to say that I don’t really want to be touched by anyone else in fact I won’t tolerate anyone else once I have bonded with my male friend. I therefore cannot be rehomed with children. I love to ride around on my Dads shoulder and chatter to him as he is working. I like to be out most of the day and will hop around the furniture, but be careful I just love tearing paper - even my safehouse Mums favourite book (haha!). It is fun and games trying to get me back in my cage (well it’s fun for me anyway!). Although I can step up (for my favourite man), if I get whiff of the fact that you are putting me back in my cage then I’m off! I am a really clever boy. I say boy but no-one really knows if I am a boy or girl. I can say lots of words and imitate just about anything. I love my toast in the morning and will get all excited when I hear the toaster pop.
I am living in Paignton (Devon) presently and I am afraid I do not have a cage. |
| Max the Orange Winged Amazon - C201
Hello, my name is Max and I am an Orange Winged Amazon. I am 13 years old.
I love to interact with people although I am definitely better with males than females. At my safehouse my favourite person is the 13 year old son whom I adore. I will try and eat anything you put in front of me and will soon let you know if I don't like it (He He). I can be strong willed so would be better suited with someone who could be firm (but gentle) with me so I know where the boundaries are. I might not be suitable for homes with very young children. So far I have not been destructive, although I get plenty of attention in my safehouse so I have no need to try anything naughty! Like most Amazons I can have my moments when it comes to noise, but am not especially noisy. I am not bothered by cats or dogs, but have had no interaction with other birds. I would love to have a loving home for Christmas. Could you be the one?
I am currently living in West Yorkshire and I do come with a nice cage and toys. |
| Charlie the Congo African Grey - C124
Hi, I am Charlie, and I am a happy, content, Congo African Grey.
I am a nice guy with men and can step up and am happy to sit with you. But I just don’t happen to like women or children at all. I am also protective of my cage and do not like hands in it! I love my fruit and veg, and I also love my toast and juice in the morning. Currently I am out of my cage most of the day which I am very happy about. I enjoy sitting on the top where I have my play area. When I am in my cage my favourite toy is my bell - I just love to ring that bell! I don’t mind dogs around the home, and I am ok with other birds, just as long as they don’t come onto my cage. I will come to you when I get use to you, but sometimes I just prefer to be left to do my own thing. If you leave my door open I will go back in myself. I love to be sprayed as I like to make an effort to look good despite the fact that sometimes I just decide to remove my feathers. I am really looking forward to having a loving forever home, but for my happiness (and yours) I would prefer a male only home and definitely one with no children.
I don’t come with a cage of my own so I will need a new one and I can be collected from Bolton, Lancashire. |
| Rex the Blue Crowned Conure - E3
Hi my name is Rex the Blue Crowned Conure. I am a really lovely bird and I need a forever home.
You will have to understand that my species are quite noisy. So if you want a quiet life then I am not the bird for you! However, I am very friendly and love lots of attention. I am happiest when I am with my safehouse Mummy and Daddy. I like watching TV and sitting on my perch eating seeds. I do understand that you sometimes have to go out but I don't like being on my own for very long. I really am very tame and love a tickle. I find it so relaxing that sometimes I go to sleep having my tickles. I am beginning to try different kinds of foods and I will take a morsel from your hand very gently. I am actually quite a good eater so you don't need to worry. I promise I will not bite you but please don't mind if I lick. I do have quite a large tongue! I do very much like spending time out of my cage. I will need you to buy me a nice cage with a flat roof so I can stand on it and chew on my toys. Or even a cage with a playstand on the top or a nice stand. I am quite funny and I would like to learn to talk, I like laughing. I am good with other animals and birds. I live with my friend Kiki who is a quaker, 2 other small Conures and also my friend Neil the cat, and we all get on fine. I do like my breakfast quite early but I am not any trouble. I go to bed when I am told and would love to be your best friend. Are you the forever home I am looking for? Do you deserve the special love I can give?
I am in Bedfordshire currently, and as mentioned I will need a new cage.

| Sinatra the Indian Ringneck - S11
My name is Sinatra and I am a stunning 2 year old Ringneck.
I am a lovely little boy, and I need a forever home where I will have another bird for company. The only noise I make is a high pitched call to the Conure who lives in my safehouse, unfortunately she’s grumpy and chases me away! I think if I had a birdy friend I would be much happier. I love being out of my cage and I am very well behaved when I am out – I potter about doing my own thing, exploring and watching the activities from my spot on the curtain rail. I’m not overly affectionate although I have let my safehouse Daddy scratch my head once or twice. I am not very good at eating my fruit and veg, but if you’re eating I will sit on your shoulder and make a gentle ‘parp’ sound until you give me some too, I also love some porridge in the morning and some of your dinner in the evening! I will need a new cage in my forever home as I’m living in a borrowed one at the moment. I would love a mirror too please! I don’t play with toys but I love looking at myself in the mirror, I even blow myself kisses and tell myself I’m a “Pretty, pretty boy” (as you can see in my picture!). I talk to various household items, the coffee maker, the knife-rack, and I even told the croissants they were pretty! I like men and ladies, and I’m not bothered by the safehouse dog, but have no experience with little people. I step up very well, but occasionally I can be a bit stroppy and if I don’t want to move I’ll fluff my feathers up and nip you (gently). This is my way of warning you, and if you leave me alone for a short while I’ll get over it. Most of the time I go back to my cage on my own, I even shut the door myself!
I currently live in Moulsford, Oxfordshire and I am looking forward to meeting my new forever Mummy or Daddy. As mentioned earlier I will need a new cage. |
| Polly the Slender Billed Conure - N55
Hello my name is Polly. I am a slender billed conure.
I'm not sure how old I am but I am looking for a home that will bring me out of myself. I like it when you talk to me and I will whistle and chatter back to you. Sometimes I might even give a wolf whistle. I like both my safehouse Mum and Dad but won't let them handle me at the moment. With your care and patience, I might trust you enough to let you touch me later on. I do like my food - as well as my proper parrot food, I like toast with butter for my breakfast, the odd chip as a treat and plenty of fruit, particularly apple. I am not keen on toys but I like my steel bell and will ring it for you sometimes. I also have a steel mirror which I play peek a boo behind. I like to sit on top of my cage and watch you. My safehouse dad has also just discovered I'm a wee rocker at heart, and I love rock music and will head bang along with the music.
Although I do have my own cage, I could really do with a new one. I am currently living in Dumfries, Scotland. |
| Mick the Timneh African Grey - S13
Hello….I am Mick and I am a quiet Timneh Grey who likes nothing more than sitting watching the world go by from the top of my cage.
I really don't like to be touched but will happily take food from you even though I am scared of hands. I would like to either be an only bird or maybe with just one other, as I am not that keen on other birds especially if they land on my cage! I make some cute noises and whistle a bit, but other than this I am quite quiet really. I don't venture far, just onto the top of my cage so I can see what’s going on around me. I haven't learnt to step up but if you are confident you can just scoop me up and put me where I need to be, or I will just go back into my cage when I am hungry. I did not have a good start to life and would benefit from a new home with people that have a bit of experience so that I can learn to trust again. I largely ignore the cat and dog that I share my safehouse with, and have shown no preference to men women or children – all are ok as long as they know I don’t want to be touched.
I have my own cage and a bunch of plastic fruit that is mine and you must not touch it! I am currently in Cambridgeshire but am looking forward to relocating to your place!

| Alfie the Quaker - N71
Hello, my name is Alfie, I am nearly 3 years old.
I came into Birdline because my owner said I was too noisy. My safehouse mum says I am quite noisy but this is because I am an immature Quaker and act like a nosey, noisy teenager. I am inquisitive but I am really scared of people, especially children, and panic when they approach my cage. I think that if I went to a quiet home where I could get to know you at my own pace, I will show you what a sweet, loveable chap I am. At my current safehouse, my Mum has another Quaker, and I am just starting to tolerate him, but in general I am not overly keen on other birds. I think other pets may be too much for me too as I am nervous, unless they leave me well alone! I prefer to come out and go back to my cage in my own time, as I do not like being handled. I do fly to my safehouse Mum when she lets me out, and I like her, I think with some TLC and patience I will get the confidence to let you handle me. I do have a missing middle toe and cannot remember when or where I lost it, maybe this has something to do with my nervousness of humans and other birds? At my safehouse, I am starting to become happy with humans, but still do get stressed when there are children around me.
I do not have my own cage, but I know you will get me one, and when you get me home and see what a lovely cheeky chap I am, you will want the best for me and know I am worth it! I am in Chester. |
| Jack the Black Capped Conure - C91
Hello All. My name is Jack and I'm a Black Capped Conure.
I'm only a little bird and I come with my own cage and all my favourite perches and mirror. I'm quite shy and timid, and prefer to be spoken to softly, as loud noises close to my cage make me jump, and then I hide within the tassels on my perch. When I go to bed I like to cuddle up to these tassels. I have a really good appetite - berries, grapes and millett seed are my favourite foods. I don't eat cooked foods at all, not even porridge. Every so often I start to pluck and I have to be sprayed with aloe vera gel and water. This does make me better even though I am not too keen on it! Although I don't like being touched, I love to be talked and sung to and perhaps, with a patient and loving new Mummy and Daddy, I might learn to let them handle me. I do take food from my safehouse parents' fingers, so I'm getting better. I think I would prefer a quiet house where I can be the main focus of attention, so perhaps a home with no other pets or small children?
I have my own cage and I am in Poynton in Cheshire. |
| Babe & Charlie the Orange Winged and Blue Fronted Amazons - 347 & 664
Hello, My name is Babe and I share my life and cage with my best friend Charlie we are both Amazons (a Blue Fronted and an Orange Winged).
No-one knows for sure how old we are. My safehouse Daddy calls me "Parrot Hilton" because I am rather aloof (although I prefer "shy"). Charlie is braver than me. Neither of us will step up yet, but we will both take food from Mummy and Daddy. I can make a lovely mobile phone sound and bark like safehouse Mummy's chihuahuas! We tolerate other animals and small people as long as they respect our space. However we are not keen on other birds and have been known to chase them, so a home without other birds is best. Charlie always has a lot to say for himself. He whistles, says "Hello", calls "Vernon" (the dog) and shouts "Yum Yum" if he wants Mummy & Daddy's food. We can both be very loud especially when we do our bark which becomes an ear splitting screech! Mummy says we are beautiful birds but like any "Parrot Hilton" we are high maintenance. Charlie and I need to be out of our cage all day or I will pick fights with him, so we need a human who is around all day to watch over us and interact with us. In between out power snoozes, we are a full-on pair. I love to fly and explore. Charlie loves to shred cardboard. His wings are clipped but he would love to fly with me again. We are ready for our forever home and need someone with time and devotion to work with us to provide a stable and safe home. I am sure that with time and patience we will eventually learn this “step up thingy”, and hopefully our new home can teach us that interacting with humans is more fun than just playing together.
We come with our own cage and are living in our safehouse in Stoke on Trent. |
| Rosie the Rosella - N77
Hi my name is Rosie. Look at my beautiful colours and I am sure you will agree I'm just a stunning Rosella.
I am 15 years old and am a very easy going happy little bird. I love to be out of my cage and can spend hours just sitting on my rope hoop, watching my safehouse Mum go about her business. When I decide I want some company I will come down and sit on your shoulder for a bit, but only when I decide to. I really love my walnuts as a little treat, but am very fussy and like them to be served to me on my little coloured box toy, which sits on top of my cage. I am a fairly quiet girl, but I will get very excited to see you when you come in, and will chirp away until I get out. I like both men and women although I may have a slight preference towards women. Other birds or pets don’t worry me as long as they don’t bother me, but I have no idea if I like children as I don’t think I have met any? My safehouse Mummy says I'm just a delight to look after and I'm sooooo gorgeous - and I think she's right!
I have my own cage and am in Uphall, West Lothian, Scotland.
NOTE: This bird is in the latter stages of the foster programme and thus may shortly be removed from the re-homing list. Please consider this when applying to foster this bird. |
| Birdo the Lineolated parakeet - S27
Hello! Birdo they call me - not very original! I am a Creamino Lineolated Parakeet.
I am a nosey little thing and like to watch everything that is going on. I come out of my cage on your hand and will snuggle into your neck for comfort and warmth but I don't like fingers. I enjoy being out of my cage but will fly home if I get stressed / spooked, so often I am not out for very long. However I like to have the option! With time I think I will settle down, and with patience I may be more accepting of being handled. I will take fruit from you and enjoy my fruit and veg. I don't really make much noise or mess and I can say a couple of words and whistle a tune up to the 3rd line - Maybe you can teach me more? I don't think I like other birds and when they land on my cage I get really upset. I may be small but I am brave and will protect my cage! I think I would prefer a quiet home, perhaps as an only bird or with other Linnies or similar sized birds. Maybe there is a retired person out there that wants some company? I don’t think I would like a home with children. They say there is someone for everyone – Are you the one for me?
I have my own cage and will need to be collected from Surrey. |
| Charlie the Congo African Grey - 1787
Hello, I'm Charlie, a very big Congo African Grey. I'm looking for a new home where I will be treated like a king, and get spoilt rotten.
I can say lots of words, and will definitely make you laugh with me when I laugh at the right moment, and say things at the right time. I love to be out of the cage, and will allow some human contact, on my terms, once I trust you. I'm not naughty, but may become bored if left in the cage for too long, but you can help by giving me wooden toys to chew, and stuff to shred if you need to leave me for a few hours. I really need a home with someone who is confident, as I try to be the boss otherwise. I prefer men to women so would need a male carer. I don't mind children and I ignore other birds and pets so they are not a problem either. My old Mum and Dad say I'm an absolute pleasure to be with, and I have given them a lot of happiness.
I'm in Surrey, and I don't have my own cage, although I did bring my favourite toys with me. |
| Blaze the Fiery Shouldered Conure - 1622
Hi there, my name is Blaze and I'm a beautiful Fiery Shouldered Conure.
I am sorry but I don't know how old I am. My safehouse Mum say's that I am an adorable little chap who desperately needs to find my forever home. I am from the smaller and quieter species of Conure, therefore you do not have to worry too much about the noise levels. Although I am small I am a typical Conure and my personality is far, far bigger than me. I love my good quality seed and fruit and veg, and anything else you are eating is worth a try!! I will go to either men or women although I seem to slightly prefer the ladies. I am a cheerful little chap who makes himself at home with both other birds and those furry dogs and cats. I enjoy lots of interaction, but in short bursts as I have a low attention threshold. Could you be my loving family that I so long for? Please don't pass me over just because I am little!
I come with a cage and some toys and am living in West Yorkshire at the minute. |
| Charlie the Timneh African Grey - N99
Hello my name is Charlie and I am a lovely Timneh Grey.
I am a mans bird. The person I like the most is my safehouse Daddy - he is great! I will sit by him and sometimes I sit on his shoulder. If he is not around then I am happy to play on the top of my cage. I won’t compromise and play with anyone else as I simply do not like women (or children for that matter!). I am unsure if I like other birds but I am fine with dogs. I am used to someone being home all day, but would be okay to be left for a few hours. If you do have to go out then please leave the TV on for me as I get lonely. A warm water spray keeps my feathers looking fab and I quite enjoy it too. Another thing I enjoy is my food - I like my toast in the morning and I love fruit and veg and enjoy a chicken bone from time to time. I talk well, but I can get a bit noisy sometimes and more so when the hoover goes on.
I don’t come with a cage I am afraid as the cage I am in is on loan to me. I am in Bolton, Lancashire.
NOTE: This bird is in the latter stages of the foster programme and thus may shortly be removed from the re-homing list. Please consider this when applying to foster this bird. |
| Owen the Yellow Crowned Amazon - C51
Hello I am Owen a Yellow Crowned Amazon looking for a new home.
I really love life and I am a happy bird. My safehouse Mummy is home much of the day and I enjoy her company (and the fact that she gives me my food every day) but I won’t go on her. I wait till my safehouse Daddy comes home and then after a quick “hello” I am on his arm. I don’t step up onto hands or perches but have stepped onto the arm of any man I have met. I don’t mind children and I am okay around other birds and animals but I do like my own space at times. I will eat most food, my favourite is my fruit and toast in the morning. Talking of mornings - I do get a little noisy in the mornings when you first uncover me. I am not overly noisy though and after this I just chatter throughout the day whilst sitting on top of my cage and playing with my toys. To keep me in tip top condition you can give me a warm water spray. I really enjoy that.
I am really wanting my forever home but will need a new cage. I am currently in Bolton, Lancashire. |
| Coco the Orange Winged Amazon – E9
Hello everyone, I'm Coco a gorgeous Orange Winged Amazon. I am 12 years old and I am now ready for my new home.
I am very partial to young ladies and will be very good for them, although in the past I have lived with men. There is a lovely young blond girlie who visits us here and when I see her I fly to her shoulder and we have tickles. I do need to be worked with as I do not step up and will need a confident handler to bring me on. I love my toast for breakfast, usually with peanut butter, and then a light shower of warm water and I am ready for the day. One of my favourite pastimes is chewing wood and rope toys. I love nuts, cooked veg, fruit and sometimes I am allowed a chip - but not too often. I talk quite well so will amuse you quite a bit. I am happy to spend some of the day in my cage with my toys, watching the world go by, so if you work part time that’s fine. I am also okay around other birds and dogs.
I will be bringing my own cage and toys with me when my new family comes to collect me, and I am waiting in Essex ready to join you and start my new life.

| Chaz the Congo African Grey - 110212
Hello, my name is Chaz and I am an 8 year old Congo African Grey.
I am very friendly and like nothing more than to sit on my safehouse Dad's knee all evening and have my neck tickled. He only has to say the word 'tickle' and I bow my head immediately. I got on very well with both of my previous parents and get on very well with everyone at my safehouse be they male or female. I have no preference. I am a feather snipper - I bite off my chest feathers so they are shorter. I have always done this and my safehouse Dad says it makes me look cute and fluffy! My feathers now are the best they have ever been, due largely to a good diet. I eat a good quality seed mix, loads of fruit & veg and I love to sit at the table on my stand at mealtimes and share your food. I will eat anything that is safe for me! I step up as good as gold though am sometimes a little reluctant to step up from inside my cage - preferring to come out on my own and then I will happily step up on you. I don't talk but I do "chunter" a bit, and I love whistling to the radio. I don't always get the tune right but I do try. I am a very adaptable bird and would love just about any home where I will be loved and given plenty of time out of my cage. I am used to being out all day, every day! If you have to work a bit, I'm sure that would be OK as long as you left me a radio or TV for company. I don’t mind dogs or cats but have no real experience of children.
I am situated in North Wiltshire and I do have a cage. |
| Sunny the Yellow Sided Conure - N4
Hello, my name is Sunny, I am a Yellow Sided Conure. No one knows how old I am because I was found after getting into a ladies house.
I haven’t learnt to step up yet, but I will fly to you, and am curious about everyone I see. I am happy to sit on your shoulder and will preen your hair for you! My safehouse Mum says that I am a delightful little chap, and no trouble at all. I am not a noisy bird. I will play happily, and love to get into mischief. I love to throw things of shelves but am not destructive in the usual sense. I have a good appetite, and I am not a fussy eater either. I bet you would love to have me living with you. I have shown no preference as yet to men, women or children – I like interaction from everyone. I am unfazed by dogs as well. I share my safehouse with an African Grey and I just ignore him - I am much more interested in you humans.
I do have my own cage but could do with a bigger one really. I am currently in Dumfries, Scotland. |
| Bella the Congo African Grey - SW77
Hello my name is Bella and I'm about 9 years old.
My safehouse Mum thinks I'm a lovely girl but I am awfully nervous. I'm not very confident so get bullied easily by other birds, this makes me pull my feathers out. I'm now in a cage on my own and have stopped plucking but my feathers are still a bit scruffy - hopefully I will be back to “beautiful” soon. I'm a very sweet, quiet girl who likes to whistle and talk occasionally. I do like to come out my cage but won’t step up on you, and I get very scared if you ask me to step up on to a perch. I will return to my cage if you tempt me in with some food (which I love). I will sometimes let you scratch my head but please don’t rush me as it will take time to get to know you. A nice quiet home where I can gain confidence and have nice people to talk to is probably best for me. I would probably be happier in a home where I'm the only bird, or perhaps with another sweet bird like me. As I am so nervous I haven’t yet shown a preference to men or women. I have not met any children but given my disposition I think a home with older children only would be best.
I don’t have a cage of my own and would love a new one with lots of newspaper balls and hanging toys to play with. I am in Dumfries in Scotland. |
| Jackie the Congo African Grey - 2510
Hi, my name is Jackie and I'm a cheeky 9 year old Congo African Grey. I'm full of personality and am looking for a new fun home and some new people to tease.
I'm very handsome and full of myself and do love the sound of my own voice, so I talk constantly. My favourite is "Goodnight you". I also like to whistle, but don’t scream so I'm not that noisy really. I like to be top bird and will bully the others, so I do need to be supervised if I'm with other birds. I'm really good fun though and love interacting with people. I enjoy the odd head scratch and will take food from you but I don’t step up and don’t to try to make me!! I'm looking for a lively forever home with someone who can handle a bolshie bird. I'm quite happy to play in my cage if you have to go out, but I will shred everything in it so be prepared to buy me lots of toys and newspapers, as I love to shred them. I am afraid I don’t like children but am OK with dogs (although I haven’t been allowed to get too close to them!). I'm a cheeky girl who will make a great friend.
I don’t have my own cage so will need you to buy me a nice new one, call it a house warming present! I am in the Castle Douglas area in Scotland. |
| Sampson the Congo African Grey - W42
Hi, my name is Sampson although everyone calls me Sampie. I am a 31 year old happy Congo African Grey.
My cage is situated in a large window overlooking the garden, where I really enjoy the comings & goings of the wild birds outside - I even love the seagulls swooping past the window. If you had to work I would be happy home alone looking through the window & playing with my toys for a few hours. I am very lucky as my safe house Mum doesn't work & I thrive on the attention she gives me. I love her loads, as I would with you if given the same attention. Even when she's downstairs doing chores we whistle & chat to each other. I usually tell her to “come-on”, I just love to talk, whistle, laugh, make clapping sounds & can mimic just about everything. I love to dance & sing happy birthday, but sometimes I can only be bothered to say “happy birth”. Beware though - when I join in with your laughter I'll have your sides splitting! I'm not really sure about my safe house Dad, I tolerate him & don't mind when he gives me treats ..haha! I get very excited when I see children from my cage, but not sure how I would interact with them when I’m out. The safe house where I live has another bird, he's ok, but I don't like it when he comes onto MY cage. I don’t have any experience of other pets though. Although I know how to step up I'm not keen to, only doing it when I want to, so I come out of my cage myself and then love to play around on the floor (but make sure there are lots of toys for me to play with as otherwise I will make my own entertainment). I love to climb all over my Mum when she's on the floor and don't mind being ‘scooped up’ if you need to move me or put me into my cage. I love to eat raw and cooked veg of all kinds, I also love grapes, raspberries and blackberries in my bowl, but prefer apple and orange on my spike hung in my cage, in fact I am a really good eater and am not fussy.
Although I have my own cage, I could really do with a new one, but PLEASE let me settle in to my new home first, as I’m 31 now and too much change in one go is a bit daunting. I am in Brixham, Devon. |
| Goblin the Congo African Grey - N108
Hello my name is Goblin. I'm an 18 year old Congo African Grey with a quite unique claim - I really was born in South Africa!!
I'm now looking for a new home with a special Dad to look after me. It’s not that I don’t like women or small people - I just like them to keep their distance, definitely no touching!! (Unless you have a treat for me then I will accept it like an angel). I know lots of words but enjoy whistling different tunes, even some that the smaller garden birds whistle outside. I do 2 different dances so if you clap or whistle a tune I can do my stuff. My safehouse Dad joins in but I’m a much better dancer. I'm not really a fussy eater but when you hear me say “Yum Yum” then a treat would be lovely thank you! I like to spend my time on top of my cage taking in the comings and goings of the house, and although I can fly I rarely do. There is a dog in my safehouse that I tolerate so long as it doesn't come too close, if it puts its nose against my cage then I let him knows who is boss! I don’t step up although my safehouse Dad thinks I may in time with the right man. I like a head scratch and you can pick me up to put me back in the cage, but that’s as much as I do with the hands, for now anyway. I have my own cage and some toys that I ignore, just give me some cardboard to shred, and music to listen to, and I'm happy till you get home and I say “Yum Yum” to get my treat!
I am currently living in Sauchie, in Central Scotland and can bring my cage with me to my new home. |
| Oscar the Hahns Macaw - 10212
Hi my name is Oscar, I am a Hahns Macaw and I’m about 4 1/2 years old.
I am a friendly little man who will whistle quite happily to you if you talk to me. At the moment I don’t talk back to you I’m afraid, but will love you just the same. I like to come out of my cage and have a fly round and will come and sit on your shoulder and on your head if I get a chance. I don’t like to be touched at the moment but I may let you when I trust you more. I can step up though! I love a bit of toast in the morning and the occasional bit of biscuit as a treat. I eat my seed too but I'm not keen on fruit and veg – I know that’s not very healthy and you have to keep encouraging me!! I am used to dogs and they don’t bother me at all, but I don’t like cats one bit. I like most people but do prefer the ladies, but I have never met any of those little people, so don’t know if I like them or not. Please if you think I would fit into your family get your application in to the nice rehoming people - I won’t be around for long!!
I am currently living in Lincoln and have my own cage!
NOTE: This bird is in the latter stages of the foster programme and thus may shortly be removed from the re-homing list. Please consider this when applying to foster this bird. |
| George the Congo African Grey - W47
Hi, my name's George and I am a Congo African Grey. I am 14yrs old just a teenager!
As you can see I've been very busy over grooming myself, but despite my less than perfect looks I am a lovely chap. I love spending time with my safe house Dad and will sit quite happily on his shoulder. Most of my feathers should grow back provided I have plenty to keep me busy, and a good diet and regular warm water spray. If however they don’t grow back (or I don’t let them) you may just have to accept that I prefer the naked look! I eat almost anything and love my fresh fruit, and my evening meal with you is a must. I have a great range of songs to whistle for you and I can say words including my name. I would like some bird company if you have to leave to go to work, I have two house mates here that I like to talk to. I am OK with other pets too. Although I am very much a mans bird, I do like to interact with most people (even little ones) but most of all I'd like a forever Dad please.
Pick me - I am waiting in Plymouth. I travel light as I have no cage. |
| Jasper the Patagonian Conure - S42
Hello, my name is Jasper and I am a Patagonian Conure.
I am a little nervous at first, but if you talk to me gently and give me some time I will step up onto your hand or sit on your shoulder. I like it when my safehouse Mum feeds me from her hand and I do like the odd bit of biscuit or cracker. I can be a bit noisy at certain times of the day but I do settle quickly with your attention/company. I like to play with my bell - I just LOVE my bell and ring set. I ring my bell and put my head inside it and this make my squawk muffled. What fun!! When I come out of my cage, I climb around on the top and ‘supervise' the cleaning of it. I like to rip the newspaper my safehouse Mum puts on the bottom of the cage. I would like my forever carer to be around most of the day, and I do like a family environment where there are a few people around to talk to me - I love company. I get along fine with dogs and cats. Children are ok too. I do have 3 small patches that I plucked, but I haven’t plucked since I have been in my safehouse (and I even have a couple of new feathers come through). My safehouse Mummy says I am a little shy at first but am a very funny little bird, and she laughs at me a lot throughout the day. If you 'click' at me I will click back and I listen to every word you say. Watch out though as I will steal your breakfast cereal – I like to fill myself up on the things I like to eat so I don’t have to eat that yucky fruit and veg! I know it is good for me and you have to keep encouraging me as you never know – one day I may eat it! I am a sociable little thing but when I do not want to be disturbed I sit on the bottom of my cage.
Talking of cages I have my own one and am living in the Middlesex area waiting for my new family. |
| Indie the Congo African Grey - 2303
Hi, I'm Indie the Congo African Grey and I'm looking for a nice lively home to join.
I'm a lovely girl who enjoys chatting to you and getting loads of tickles, but I can be a bit stroppy at times - just keeping you in your place really. It would probably be good for me to have someone who knows us CAG's. I'm very talkative and love to whistle and I can be a bit loud at times. I do step up, usually after I need rescuing after my latest adventure! I only step onto you though and not a perch – they scare me! I love to shred paper and wooden toys and anything else I can get my beak into! I'm looking for a forever home with a Mum or a Dad (or both), as I love all people equally. I am afraid I haven’t had much to do with children but am okay with dogs and other birds.
I don’t have my own cage so will need a new one with lots of toys for me to play with. I am in the Castle Douglas area in Scotland.
NOTE: This bird is in the latter stages of the foster programme and thus may shortly be removed from the re-homing list. Please consider this when applying to foster this bird. |
| Billie the Cockatiel - 160212
Hello, my name is Billie and I am a pretty female Cockatiel.
My Daddy left home two years ago and I have stayed with his partner since then. However, she didn't know how to handle birds so decided to donate me to Birdline so that I can find a new forever home with people that understand me. I used to be a very friendly girl and would sit with my Daddy (on his lap or shoulder). However as I have not had so much human contact in recent times I am now a little nervous and need to learn to trust again. Currently, I'm not keen on being handled but love to be spoken to gently as I find this soothing. My safehouse Mummy says I'm a pretty girl, and when out of my cage I fly around and usually land on top of the door frame and the door curtain. Sometimes I go back into the cage by myself but it is often a waiting game as I do not step up (although I used to). I love my hanging mirror and bell toys, and spend hours sitting on top of my ladder by the window. I am quite timid but will still come to the front of the cage to sing to you and I would so much like to be the friendly girl I used to be. I guess I need a patient and loving forever Mummy and Daddy who won't shout a lot and don't have lots of other noisy animals, because if a dog barks or there are other loud noises, I nearly fall off my perch! If I find such a family I promise to be as good as gold and will look after them forever, and, although I can't talk I will chatter and sing to them whenever they want.
I'm sorry I don't have my own cage so will need you to provide me with one, and I'll try to keep it clean. I currently live in Poynton, Cheshire. |
| Barney the Congo African Grey - W48
Hello, my name is Barney and I am a 16 year old Congo African Grey. I am a tame bird who is looking for a forever home.
I am a female even though my name suggests otherwise. I have been very quick to settle into my safehouse, but can still be nervous at times. I even tell myself "it’s alright Barney" when someone is doing something I am unsure of. I am incredibly funny…talking, singing and whistling regularly – and I have the funniest laugh. I will say “Hello” when the phone rings and I have just started singing a song over the last few days, but my safehouse family cannot work out what the words are yet. I will step up to anyone if I am out of my cage. I am fine with cats and dogs but I am very unsure of other birds. I am not used to them so would ideally prefer a house without birds. I think I like children but I don't like them when they make too much noise. I fly and land on the 11 year daughter and often say “Hello” to the 7 year old son. However, I simply will not tolerate anyone putting their fingers in my cage. I had been plucking myself as well as biting my nails, but I think it’s a habit I have picked up through boredom. I don't seem to be doing this quite as much anymore, so hopefully I may stop with lots of love and attention. I enjoy a daily tickle but only from my safehouse Mum. My safehouse family will miss me very much when I go because I have them laughing at me all the time!!
I do have my own cage which I am very attached to, but I think I may need a new one once I am well and truly settled with a forever family. I am currently living in Plmouth. |
| Charlie the Alexandrine Parakeet – W5
Hello, my name is Charlie, and I am an Alexandrine Parakeet who is looking for a new home.
I am a very friendly bird with lots of vitality and charm. I love to fly around the room when I am first out of my cage and then I calm down a little. I like people but I have never been around children, so I am not sure if I like them or not. I love to interact with my safehouse Dad, I can step up but still run him a merry dance when he tries to get me back in my cage – haha!! I will tolerate dogs and other animals, but don’t let them get too close as they might scare me. I like to chew my wooden toys and paper - I also like toilet rolls to play with to keep me amused. I sing for my supper so you know when it is time to feed me and I am not a fussy eater - I like my fruit and seed. I am slightly plucked around my neck and legs but with lots of love and attention I am sure this is a habit I can break. I need a loving home and if you have a bird friend that I can play with (one like me perhaps?), then my happiness will be secured.
I am afraid I don’t have a cage and I am in Yeovil, Somerset. |
| Chip the Quaker Parrot – W20
Hello, hello, hello, my name’s Chip and I’m a one year old Quaker parrot.
I’m a happy little boy who loves my safehouse Mum and her 12yr old daughter, but I chase the other children away if they get too close. I am getting better as I will allow her son to tickle me when my she (my safehouse Mummy) isn’t around. I love kisses and tickles but my safe house family don’t like it when I hang off their earrings or pull them out! I’m looking for a home where I can be someones best friend, as I’m still a young boy and have a lot of love to give to the right person. I say “hello” every time I see you, and make kissing noises, but I also shout for you if I know you are around - but it doesn’t last long. I’m a handsome little fella and just love my swinging perch - I will sit and rock myself on that! I am used to dogs but I really don’t like those cat things and can be quite aggressive towards them. I like other birds and they can keep me company if you have to work for a few hours. So if you’re a lady looking for a funny little man who makes everyone laugh and you don’t have cats, then I’m your guy.
I am in Taunton, Somerset and I am afraid I do not have a cage to call my own. |
| Olly the Blue Crowned Conure - 610312
Hello, my name is Olly and I’m a very beautiful Blue Crowned Conure. I don’t know what sex I am but I’m 13 years old.
I am a friendly bird but I can be noisy when I meet new people, but it’s only because I want to say hello. After you make a fuss of me I settle down again. I love to be around people and like lots of attention. I also like to dance and have a laugh with you. I am a good girl and eat well, but my favourites are toast, apple and oranges. I share my safehouse with 2 budgies and I get on well with them, and I am not bothered by non-feathered pets either. I like to be out of my cage and will fly to you for a while and I will go back on my own. I don’t like fingers in my cage but I’m fine when I’m out of it. My safehouse mum says I’m a charmer and I do agree with her. I enjoy a spray and a bath as I have to stay looking good.
I’m afraid I don’t have my own cage so will need you to buy me one, but I do have my favourite bell which I love, and I can always play with your keys too. I’m ready now to find my forever home and am currently in Eastriggs, Scotland. |
| Wolfie the Orange Winged Amazon - SE46
Hello!! My name is Wolfie, and I am a beautiful and friendly Orange Wing Amazon.
I was found on a balcony, waiting for someone to take me in. I’m rather quiet for an Amazon, and rarely scream. I like to chatter every now and then, and talk to you in my own special way. I also have a very happy and excited “Gobbel” that makes my safehouse mum laugh. I am quite shy until I get to know you, but once I do I just looooove cuddles all around my head, and will lift all my lovely neck feathers for you to be able to give me a good scritch. My safehouse mum does all the cuddling as I don’t let my safehouse dad touch me. He’s ok to have around though, and I am so well behaved that I do not bite him if he tries to cuddle me; I just hold his finger in my beak until he moves away again, so maybe I’ll let him eventually. To stay looking this beautiful I need showers, and I just love them! I have a shower perch in the shower that I sit on while mum sprays me all over, but when I get to know you better I might just join in with you when you have yours, sitting on your shoulder! I am happier sitting close to you, rather than on you, but will step up without much fuss when asked. I don’t mind being carried around as I love being with you. If you leave me in a room I’ll soon fly after you! I am also a really good guard parrot and love to sit at the window to make sure the magpies stay off my lawn! I like running around on the floor once I get comfortable, so I would prefer if you had no dogs or cats. One thing I do know is that I really do not like small birds and will attack them if I can!! I think I’d prefer to be an only bird, so you could spend all your time with me and spoil me rotten, or maybe I could manage to live with another one like me. I am still quite nervy and would prefer a quieter home. I’m ok with you working for a few hours as I’ll happily play with my favourite toys, which are rope toys with lots of knots for me to undo. Obviously I would prefer it if you are home most of the day though.
I’m in Surrey and as I was found on a balcony I do not have my own cage unfortunately. Maybe we can buy one together, with room for lots of rope toys please. |
| Freddie the Congo African Grey – W34
Hello my name is Freddie. I am 6 1/2 years old and am a Congo African Grey parrot.
At the moment I am staying with a family that consists of a Mum, Dad and 2 children, they also have a cat and a dog. I am a happy go lucky bird, who is chilled and happy and am not high maintenance. The house is fairly busy here with children popping in to say hello to me which I like, and I like the dog and cat too and often go to the bottom of my cage to see what they are up to. I enjoy a bit of peace and quiet at times, especially mid-afternoon when I have a little nap. When I come out of my cage I like nothing better than finding a nice head to sit on, and give it a nice friendly tap (nothing vicious). I like attention from anyone and will step up, but will always try to get to a head!!! I am not a messy bird and my safe house family love this, as I don't throw seed everywhere so they don't have to hoover as much! I'm not destructive either and chew my toys that are in the cage but nothing else. I am a little chatty at times, but mostly at meals times - when I will tell you if your food is all gone! I am very quietly spoken and do mutter under my breath, I like to keep what I am saying a closely guarded secret! I don't like to share my thoughts but my safe family wish I would. I do whistle when you go out of the room and I will whistle back if you join in the whistling with me. You could say that I am a very considerate and thoughtful bird, who is looking for a nice new home with a family or someone who will give me attention, and let me just carry on being a chilled quiet content 6 yr old who won't disturb the neighbours!!
I am living in Newton Abbot, Devon and I am afraid I do not have a cage.
NOTE: This bird is in the latter stages of the foster programme and thus may shortly be removed from the re-homing list. Please consider this when applying to foster this bird.

| Scruffy the Orange Winged Amazon – W4
Hello everyone, my name is Scruffy. I am an Orange Winged Amazon and such a stunning specimen (even if I do say so myself).
I have come to Birdline because my human Dad has been told by the doctor that my dust makes it hard for him to breath, even though I do like a spray which can keep my dust to a minimum. I am looking for a loving home because I was with my owner since I was born, and parting was so very hard (for both of us). I need lots of attention to keep me happy. I am not a fussy eater and I am easily pleased with fruit and good quality seed. I have all of my feathers and I keep myself in good condition and like to be tickled under my wings, but only once you have gained my trust. It may take a while and a lot of patience as I have really only ever known my Dad and am very nervous of strangers. I tolerate other birds but may fair better as an only bird as I will need working with to gain my trust. I am not keen on other animals. I think I need a home where the man of the house will be the main carer. If you think I am the right bird for you then please foster me and love me, as I will give you all of my love and affection back.
I do have my own cage but I may need a bigger one so that all my toys can hang nicely. I am currently living in Yeovil, Somerset.

| Tipsy & Pepsi the Black Headed Caiques - 1118 & 969
Hi there, my name is Tipsy and I am a particularly stunning Black Headed Caique, don't you think? I share my cage with my pal Pepsi, who is the same species as me.
I am a bit noisier than Pepsi but only occasionally. My safehouse Mum says we are both real characters, although I can be a bit unpredictable at times, but if you know anything about Caiques you will know that's just in my nature and it is all part of my charm. When you get to know me you will come to learn when I want some tickles or to play with you, and when I just want to do my own thing. Pepsi likes a lot more contact than me, but neither of us are keen on our safehouse Dad, and don't want much to do with him. I quite like my safehouse Mum, (well some of the time hehe) and I really like the 12 year old who lives here and I am a much better behaved boy for her. Pepsi absolutely adores the 12 year old and will do anything for her. We both love our food and we are really good at eating our fruit and I challenge you to find something we won't eat! We both love to shred paper, and love to hide in tea towels and we just loooooove the radio being on. We don't mind being alone if you go out to work to buy all those yummy walnuts we love, as we have each other for company.
We are currently in Falkirk, Central Scotland and we have our own cage, so come on, you know you need us in your life! |
| Derek the Cockatiel - 420312
Hello, my name is Derek and I'm a cockatiel of 8.5 years. I am beautiful in looks and nature.
My Mum bought me from a breeder when she was a student, and I've lived with her ever since - even after she married and had her daughter. Unfortunately for me, Mum is going to have another baby soon and she knows how much I am scared and stressed when babies are around me, so she wants me to find another forever home. My new Mum will have a hard act to follow as I'm used to very high standards and loads of loving. I've been so well looked after that I'm a really handsome fellow and extremely healthy. I'm a really happy chap and will give anybody who comes close lots of kisses. I'll also serenade my new Mum and Dad with "Hello Derek" and a repertoire of musical whistles. My safehouse say I have a lovely soft voice. If my new family have lots of visitors, that's OK by me as I love lots of attention from everybody. I have no experience with other pets except for birds, and with birds I am curious and friendly – I am oblivious to the fact that not all birds are as friendly as me and I do not see the risks. I am not over keen on fruit and veg but I do eat a pellet diet so at least that is good for me!
I do come with my own unique cage and stand, together with my lovely toys. Of course, if you want to give me more toys and perches, well, that’s alright by me! I am living in Poynton, Cheshire and look forward to meeting you. |
| Pluto & Angel the Alexandrine Parakeets - 1623 & 2343
Hello, my name is Pluto, I'm the one with the black collar - I'm a good looking chap. The missus' name is Angel, and we are Alexandrines.
We are a bonded pair that love each other dearly. Angel loves nothing more than to go for a wander around and explore the house. I am not so keen and tend to stick to my cage. We both love our cage as it is our home and as such we do protect it very fiercely. When we are away from the cage we will step up to hands and sit with you quite nicely. Both Angel and I love to bath in our water bowls, Angel looks like a punk rocker afterwards and she looks in the mirror just so she can give herself a wolf whistle, such a vain woman! We have lived with cats and dogs with no problems, but we can sometimes be aggressive towards other birds. We like to go for a wander and sometimes we venture into other birds cages uninvited, and this can cause issues so its best that we are the only birds. Our safehouse Mum thinks we are lovely birds, and the whole family of adults (male and female), teenagers and parents enjoy interacting with us and watching us, apparently we are very comical! We have no preference as to our new family makeup, but because we can be very cage territorial we do not think we should be around young children and ideally we could do with an experienced foster home. We are a nice pair that need more time, patience and effort to bring us out of ourselves, and a place to call our forever home that we can learn to trust again.
We are in Essex and have our own cage. |
| Teco & Rosie the Jenday Conures - W28 & SW46
Hello, we are Teco and Rosie, Jenday Conures.
I'm Rosie and I am definitely a girl as I have laid eggs, it is believed that my friend Teco is also a girl. We are both friendly and love cuddles with our safe house Mum and Dad. We like to sit on their shoulders and preen their hair to keep them looking gorgeous. We both enjoy our time out of the cage and we both step up with no problems (although you will have to wait for me to come out of my cage of my own accord before I will step up). When we are in the cage I am the dominant one and I insist on my own food and water bowls. I get rather touchy if Teco tries to ‘share’ my bowl as I feel ‘overcrowded’. If we nap during the day then we will use our snuggly hammocks. I don't like to be left too long alone, but Teco does comfort me when our safehouse Mum and Dad go out. I think we would probably be ok alone at home for a few hours but would much prefer to have company for the best part of the day. We don’t mind a home with other pets, as we already have dog friends. Teco is plucked on her chest and no one seems to know why she does this, but they seem to be growing back so who knows, she may keep them this time. We really are adorable curious little birds but you do need to be made aware of just how noisy we can be. Conures by nature are normally quite noisy and we are no exception. We will screech if we get startled, and we get noisier when visitors come (although we do eventually calm down). We are looking for a forever home that can give us time to settle in and where noise won’t be a problem, as I may scream a little more than usual whilst I am in my ‘settling in’ period. My safe house Mum calls me a ‘proper madam’ but she knows there will be somebody out there just for me and my best friend.
We have our own cage and are living in Launceston, North Cornwall. |
| Billy & Amy the Congo African Greys - S52 & 230212
Hello, we are Billy and Amy, Congo African Greys. We are looking for a very special home for two very special birds.
We have not been together for very long but we are very much in love and we both ‘need’ each other so must stay together. I (Billy) am already a bit plucked on my neck and chest and this will get worse if I am separated from Amy for any length of time. I like men and am very gentle and affectionate with my safehouse Dad. Unfortunately when it comes to women and children this is most definitely not the case! Amy doesn’t have a preference to men or women she isn’t really interested in either and only has eyes for me! On the subject of eyes – Amy only has the one. Unfortunately due to an infection she lost an eye and this has knocked her confidence a bit. She used to step up but now she doesn’t. I can step up if you are patient (and a man) but first we have to play the ‘one foot on and one foot off’ game. Once I am on though you can carry me around the house. We can both sing beautifully and Amy can also say “Hello”. We both like chewing it is our favourite hobby. I love to shred telephone directories and we both chew wood (including any stray furniture that we may come across). I personally think that we would benefit from a quiet home as Amy gets a bit frightened due to her lack of all-round vision and likes to be able to hear people coming. We also would need a man to be our main carer as I won’t behave for women. I think a home without children and other pets/birds is probably best.
We share a cage which we can bring with us to our new home. We are in a safehouse in Camberley, Surrey. |
| Fizzy & Ollie the Sun Conures - 1080312
Hello, here we are Ollie & Fizzy, we are stunning young Sun Conures. We are sisters therefore must stay together.
I Ollie, am very attached to my Safehouse Mummy, I cuddle up to her and kiss her and I even try to share my food with her. If anyone tries to take me off my Mummy I shout at them until they sit back down! Fizzy loves to come out of our cage too but she likes to come out of her own accord (please don’t try and help her out as she gets rather cross). Sometimes she gets jealous of me when I am on my Safehouse Mummy and get angry at her for taking my attention away from her! We are both used to cat's and dog's - they don't bother us at all. We like it when there are people around as it keeps us quiet! We can get a little loud but only if we are not getting enough attention. If you have to work for a few hours then we are happier if you leave the radio on for us. We love to bath in our bird bath on a nice warm day and If we hear you laughing we sometimes laugh too! We are ready for our new forever home as we think we have so much to give, and being young we have so much to learn. Our Safehouse Mummy say's that whoever fosters us won't regret it because we are simply beautiful.
We are currently in Torquay, Devon and will need a new cage please with lots of toys! |
| Cocky the Timneh African Grey - 2000412
Hi my name is Cocky (or Cockles as my safehouseman calls me!) and I am a gorgeous Timneh African Grey (approx 24 years old). I defy you not to fall in love with me.
It took me a while to settle into my safehouse and at first I was scared of the children here as I had never met any before! I used to growl at them and fluff up to look big and scary. However I have got used to them over time and I will now take food from anyone very nicely. I absolutely love the company of humans but at this stage am not wanting to be handled. I like anyone and everyone talking to me and singing and dancing. I also like playing 'with' people. My safehouse Daddy slides things along the bars of my cage and I slide them back, and if he rolls a ball across the top I will chase after it. I seem to prefer men to women and although I won't allow anyone to touch me I will step up for my Dad. However it is taking me a while to get used to hands and fingers so I won't step up on them, and if he approaches me with a perch I panic and fly away. However my safehouse Dad isn't daft and he noticed that every time he tried to take my food dish away I'd stand on it. So he used that to his advantage and started moving me around the cage on my metallic bowl. Now I even let him take me out of my cage on it, and if he needs me to go back in he shows me the bowl and I hop on it! I will sit on my Dads lap but am nervous about doing so. I will stay there all the time I am being fed, and am happy to sit there for a little while if I am not being fed, but if he tries to touch me then I'm off! I am still very volatile and I will need a home where the man is experienced and not scared to work with me. I can talk and sing and whistle beautiful tunes and will have you in stitches with my animal impressions - I even say 'ribbit ribbit' like a frog! I am afraid that I am a very messy bird though so if you are very house proud then I am not the bird for you. You really need to be a fan of hoovering if you want me in your life. My diet needs working on although I will eat some fruit and veg (I tend to eat more if you disguise it or hide it in porridge).
I am afraid I don't have a cage so will need a new one, complete with toys (that I just love to chew). I am living in Greenlaw, South East Scotland at the moment. |
| Oscar the Congo African Grey - N80
Hi de hi, my name is Oscar, and I am a sprightly 33 years old Congo African Grey.
I had lived with my Mam and Dad all my life, but sadly my Dad died, and my Mam was in and out of hospital, and was unable to look after me anymore so I had to come to Birdline. I have never lived with children, so I am not really sure about them, but I am used to cats and dogs. I prefer men, and it was always my Dad that cared for me, and now it is my safehouse Dad filling that role until my new forever Dad comes into my life. I am afraid I can be quite loud and will shout, scream, and I can swear a bit (so given my language and the fact I have never been around children I may be better in a home with no children). I love Brazil nuts, they are yummy! I am not a fussy eater and like my fruit and veg and I am on a pellet diet which I need to stay on, but I have some seed as well. I can step up and be handled, but only by men.
I do have my own cage, but like me it is getting on a bit, so I could really do with a new one. I am in Sleights, near Whitby. |
| Marillion & Paddy the Orange Winged Amazons - SE52 & 1400412
Hello Hello, let us introduce ourselves. We are Marillion & Paddy, a bonded pair of Orange Winged Amazons who are looking for a forever home.
We came into Birdline separately as very lonely parrots; however we met up at our safehouse and are now a loving couple who must stay together. I, Paddy am believed to be a female and I like to think of Marillion as my boyfriend. He is very protective and handsome and looks after me, he can talk and is always asking me if I want a sweet?? Occasionally he even whistles “Pop goes the Weasel”! He preens me and loves me so much he allows me snatch his foot toys and food! I am rather flirty and sometimes take a fancy to the other Oranged Winged Amazon at our current home, and this makes Paddy very jealous and aggressive, so I would like our forever home not to have any other green parrots please as it just causes trouble! I do like to see children and will always say “Hello” to any little people who visit, however I don’t like their fingers in our cage in case they get too close to my Paddy (whom I will protect). We really enjoy being out and will leave your lovely furniture alone - we just like flying around the room for a while and then go back into our own home where we can have something to eat and settle down for an afternoon siesta before tea time. We are lively and like to chatter together (sometimes noisily, in our own “ammie” way). We are a happy and entertaining couple who absolutely adore each other to the exclusion of all others. We don’t have a lot of time for you humans and do not step up or accept tickles. We love all food, especially a piece of toast and jam for breakfast and our favourite treat is a Palm Nut.
We have our own cage and are ready to settle into our new forever home - so please pick us! We need to be collected from Chichester, West Sussex. |
| Elmo the Congo African Grey - 2555
Give us a kiss! My name is Elmo and I am a Congo African Grey.
I adore giving kisses! I love dancing, whistling and having my head tickled too! I have the typical traits of an African Grey apparently - I'm smart, funny, gorgeous, but I will do what I want, when I want.....What do you mean stubborn? Just because I am not keen on this stepping up thing doesn’t mean I can’t be ‘moved’, I will step up to a covered arm if I really have to but I much prefer stepping onto a cushion. I love my food, and will try most things but that is after I've flung it around! I have to see how far it will fly and how loud the thud before I decide if it is good enough to eat! I am used to being around a medium sized dog but I think I would be scared if it was much bigger. I haven't been around cats so don't know if I like them. The only thing I have a really big problem with is other birds, I mean I am so gorgeous why would you want anything else? I like to chase any other birds in the near vicinity, and as such my new home should not have other birds. I have a preference for men, but I will accept a fuss off anyone. I think a family would be good for me as I like to be centre of attention and strut my funky stuff, and the more people that can give me attention the better! If I am not getting the attention that I think I deserve I do have a high pitched noise that I make which is sure to get your attention - haha! Everyone who meets me loves me as I am such a massive character.
I am going to need a new bachelor pad of my own as the cage I have is only rented, I am ready and waiting in Essex for my new family. |
