Why don't you extend the deadline by a more significant time - say a month. That way more children may be persuaded to enter and there may actually be a selection to judge? It would be a shame to exclude someone for the sake of time.

then can the child that has entered re enter if he/she gets a better photo? There was plenty of school holiday time to get an entry in I think.....This competition has to be kept fair. Can we really change things now, after the closing date? Do children need to be persuaded? Surely it should be because they want to and are interested.

You can't hold a competition with only 1 or 2 entries. What i didn't think was fair was extending the closing date by a month. The only option as I can see it is to either close the competion with no winners, were the children interested enough to want to participate as only 2 put in an entry or re-run it with a new start and finish date. You certainly did not offend me. It was Helen that commented on children being persuaded. I am not going to comment on this again as it is not my place to decide what is right or wrong or how the competition is run. The decision must be made by those who organised the competition.

I have read the comments and what I have decided to do if it does'nt offend or complicate anything, is to give the closing date as the 15th September, all entries to date count but I will allow a second photo if they wish. If I do not have sufficent entries by the 15th September which by that I mean 3 entries in each category, then the competition will be declared null and void. If the younger mebers and children do not wish to participate then thats there decision, and that is the final word on it pls.

All I would like to do is apologise. I hadn't intended to cause offense, only to try to ensure maximum participation for something that Crystal was kind enough to organise. SORRY.

you not affened helen (its not in your nature lol)
its for the children at the end of the day there all winners in my eyes, marys was all ready but her photo, but the poor wee soul quite poorly at the min, and her horid mother (me) made her go school not realising she was so ill lol. we do need max participation for it to be judged, so a little longer gives times for those really busy especially with shows etc can have the chance, especially if your entering all three like mary did lol, took her ages just doing the story never mind the poem and photo

Hi All, sorry to have neglected this abit, we only had 2 entrants, which hardly made it a competitions, so I thinkwere declare it null and void and I thank the two that did enter for participating
