hello all just joined site after seeing poster in my local vet well hes not local but hes good! and to me thats the main thing

about me: im a 32 year old man living alone (i do have 2 young children who stay weekends)

now info u want lol

i am a recent addition to the "birdworld" i have allways had a fascination with birds of prey and parrots and last year after a lot of thought got myself an african grey named ayo she was living with a couple but didnt like the grandchildren as they would put fingers in cage etc (i dont have this problem thanks to a kiddies room dividing stairgate which is a nice perch too apparentley) this means ayo isnt annoyed and she will mingle with them when she wants! ayo is 16 months old and i should know sex of him/her next week as had it done at vets yesterday. she wasnt close rung when i got her but the way he/she flew to my shoulder when previous owner opened cage she chose me! she has recentley been to vets due to a calcium deficiency this has now been solved.

her diet was previously fruit veg and seedmix but on advice from vet she is now very happily eating harrisons pellet food and fruit and veg she also has her forever home arriving tomorrow yup new cage lol i will get pics up asap

shes a very funny bird she loves me too bits till her mums around then its all mum lol doesnt like being left alone but has been travelled since a youngster although she wont be doing the driving EVER! lol shes too much of a headcase for that

i am looking at becoming a safehouse foster carer for all size and species of parrots ( my 3 year old wants 1  now all of her own ive said we will see she loves ayo though)

think that covers it lol untill i post pics ................................. hi to you all!

hi and welcome to BL

as for pics you have to join photobucket.com

then upload pic and click the HTLM CODE (which says copied once you press it)
come back on here press add reply and paste it to the page (which comes up as loads of letters numbers etc) but when you submit it, it will add the picture to the forum

hope this helps

clair

hi kerry ty for comments allways nice to hear, i think to me she will allways be she but with it in mind id love to foster other birds i felt it sensible to find out.

nowwwwwwwwwwwww can i chat to elmo pleaseeeeeeee i think for colours the b&g macaw is the most stunning! closely followed by the scarlett macaw and african grey the blue and gold mixed with the white and black of the face omg

not so keen on small birds as had bad experience with a hahns macaw of a friend, id been there for @ 1 hour and the bird hadnt been near me all of a sudden its looking at me and being talkative so i talk back in low friendly voice bird hops across table jumps on my arm blowing me xxxxxxxx then bam bit chunk out of finger! to this day i dont understand why lol. ive had a few nips off ayo and the hahns hurt way more!

Down here we know the Hahn's macaw as the Devil's budgie, or maybe it's just the ones I have met. There isn't much with fur or feathers that frightens me, but Sheila's Hahns do! They have all the attitude of some of the big boys but in a small package, and little bird bites seem to penetrate and hurt much more.

Sharon is right, my budgies go for the bit of skin at the edge of your fingernail for maximum pain, Kelly our Ammie has bit me hard when she was poorly but it was nothing like the wicked sharp beak under the fingernail treatment the budgies can give bless em
