Hi Belinda, welcome to Birdline - I live just down the coast from you and have also recently joined Birdline. I have 7 parrots who live in their own conservatory; as its been such a lovely day some of us have been sitting in the garden. Best wishes, Christine. |

Hi all.
Im from South Africa, sunny Durbs, as well, and currently looking to adopt another addition to my flock,Ive been brought up with "greys" and" toos" and moved to UK 14 years ago, miss the weather food and braai's. And my Birds!
Other than that im disabled and spend 24/7 at home,I have 4 cockateils, two 5 year olds and two babies, one latino and one wild type 6 months old, Noodles and Pixie, all silly tame home reared, and just been moved to Cornwall into my adapted property which is huge 100m2 and have 1 bedoom for my birds.
Being 6ft4 in a wheelchair means, to my babies, im a moblie tree stand on wheels and they enjoy spending hours playing and sleeping on my shoulders, while I go about my daily activities.
I think I spend more on my babies than I do on myslf, who cares ,anyone who has been loved by a bird will never get it over it!
Im suffering from withdrawls and missing the companionship of a" too" or "grey" and looking forward to offering a female a mate/friend and home for life.
I have just upgraded my homes lighting to Multispectrum "SAD" lamps, and over the last few weeks all my birds and myself are benefiting from better sleep an vitality, which is great as double glazing blocks those rays we all need for healthly living.
I live 2 miles from "Birds of Paradise" bird farm and its my favourite haunt, pity it closes in winter months, summer's finaly here so I can visit some old friends I met last year . |

Yes, we have 2 Severe Macaws. They are both totally different, Harley is very playful but very over bonded to me. He`s a real character. Lucas is quite the opposite, more bird like. Harley talks lots but Lucas just says 'hello'. Oh the Parrot Zoo is only about half an hour from me, if ever you fancy coming to meet more Macaws you`re welcome to meet our flock anytime Scarlett |

Hi Belinda, I have the same problem with all my friends, i run a pub with hubby and i am always talking about Jack ( our Maroon Bellied Conure) We have only had him for 3 months and i dont think he has had any human contact before. Hes still very frightened of anyone, although i can now put my hand in his cage. He will only eat fruit if its on the floor of his cage. He is starting to come around more and we play a game when i go out the room he shouts and i call his name. If i call him twice he shouts back twice. im sure with lots of TLC he will be just fine. But i think the customers are a bit bored of hearing about every little thing he does now lol nice to know other people are so devoted to their babes. |
