I'd have to say you have given him a chance that he may otherwise not have got and he could still be stuck in a budgie cage, if i had a cap i would doff it for your efforts, well done.

I know a lady with a similarly elderly bald Patagonian. She was looking for a companion for him to see if this would help. She is a VERY experienced bird owner, I will contact her when back in the UK to see if she is still looking for another and maybe we can engineer a happy ending for Major.

That would be the best news if he was to go and live with another Patty as i am sure he would benefit from the familiar voice of another conure

I know this is the best decision for Major and in the long run he will be happy bless him

Major is leaving tomorrow morning to be safehoused in Birmingham i think the lady on the phone said- will be very sad to see him go, but i know he will be happier in the long run bless him.

Do safe house birds get posted about on the members pages? I am going to renew my membership now, so hopefully i can track his progress bless him

His story will only be posted once he is on the rehoming list following assessment. But, there is no reason for you not to ask to be kept informed directly by the SH. Make sure you agree to your details being passed on on the donation form and the SH (and his ultimate foster home) may well keep you informed.

Aww thanks Nicky, that is great to hear- i hope he has settled down wherever he is and is being able to sign as loud as he can! Charlie has now moved downstairs and is chatting away to Earl so hopefully they will be fine and he will continue to not pluck.

Thankyou everyone for youir helpful comments on here- it was really difficult for me to let major go, but i hope he will be happier in the long run
