Hi all,
I'm Matt from the West Midlands area. Just like to say hello and am hoping to become a safehouse.
My previous experience is having Sam, a blue fronted Amazon for 17 years. Sam died back in 2007 but I'd say we had a great life together.
When I took Sam on, I didn't know what I was taking on except I knew he could be a long life companion. He was very grumpy to start with and I don't think he'd ever left his cage with the previous owner. After a bit of biting and patience, we became trusted and close. I'm still amazed at how much he came out of his shell and became friendly with other people even. So, I hope I can help out and use what I've learned for them others needing new homes.
Have also been a safehouse for cats protection league in the past.
Me. I'm a homey person. I have a cat called Tux, a lazy stray who decided to move in last year. I like to get out walking, cycling and sociables down the pub sometimes. Love music, film, BBC radio, bit on the techy side and at the moment working towards getting a motorbike license and a nice big bike! |

I am a new member as well, I only joined last week and had my safe house home check the day after I joined! I was nervous but it went ok and luckily I was approved. Now I am just waiting for my first BL Safe Houser! Good luck!

Hi Matt,
Congrats on becoming a safehouser, I joined on 20/3 and decided straight away to volunteer for both fostering and safehousing! I had my home check yesterday and I've got my fingers crossed that all is ok. You life sounds as busy as mine; with 1 hubby, 2 sons aged 8 & 9, 3 African greys, 2 amazons and a job, keeps me on my toes! Good luck with obtaining your motorcycle license - both my hubby and I ride motorcycles and I've only had a full licence c5 years, just wondering what big bike you have got your sights on? Good luck with the safe housing too. Chris |

What is it about people with parrots and bikes?? They really seem to go together! Get a Triumph, Matt, and join the TOMCC. Shame you're not in my area (South London/Surrey) as I help run the Founder Branch of the Triumph Owners' MCC. And yes, we both ride - I've been a rider since the mid sixties. There's a Rally coming up at Kelling Heath 6-9th May - see you there?
