I found Billy passed away this morning

The house was so quiet,  he and another were two Blue Crowns i was safehousing.   I've had them for quite a while now slowly getting them healthy and regrowing their feathers.   They were both doing so well, even though they had to be seperated from the beginning.  His friend looks so sad right now.  All the birds are silent    I feel so bad because i asked them both to quieten down last night because they were being so noisy with their food.  Now look

I feel like the worst person in the world right now, i dont know what happened, they were both fine and happy last night, singing away and flinging food around as normal.   I dont want birdline to hate me either

RIP Billy,  i miss you already xx

Going to take him in for a PM over the next few days when the vet rings us back. His friend spoke for the first time today, and said "night night kiss kiss" Poor poor little soul

I'm always glad when a bird passes away with a birdliner. They have generally all had difficult lives and knowing they spent their final time with someone who knows how to care for a bird properly and who genuinely gives them the love they want (and we know they can tell the difference) is I think the best way for them to move on.

Although its hard for the safehouse, for some troubled, old or sick birds its a bit like hospice care and it's a very kind and generous service to have given.

Im so sorry for your loss

Is this a BL Bird hun? Only reason I ask is just to make sure the manager has been informed etc. And sorry if Im teaching granny to suck eggs, but you know to keep the body in the fridge until you can get the pm done? i know it';s a difficult time so you might not be thinking straight is all.  It's horrible when it's a sudden death like that, so unexpected xx

It is so sad that Billy has gone but, as Ian says, at least he knew he was loved. Don't blame yourself - life is full of 'what if's' - all it does is bring pain with no answers. Remember Billy for the good times he gave you - and give an extra bit of love to his friend left behind.

And, here's a (((((BIG HUG)))))) for you x

It's an hurtful time for you, there's lots of us can understand how you feel. But you mustn't feel guilty as you were the one that was trying to make a GOOD difference to Billy's life. Fly free Billy....xx
