Last night poor Lucy collapsed at home she suddenly lost the use of her legs. My son and I rushed her to the emergency vet but she was so poorly  her heart failing fast ,we knew she would never be well again so made the awful decision to put her to sleep. The vet and nurse were wonderful, Lewis and I cuddled her  as she went to sleep and she managed a last little lick of my hand as she went as if to say goodbye. We are absolutely devasted. Just over two weeks ago we had what we thought was a heathly dog an absolute lunatic and now she is gone the house is so empty without her. Only pet owners can understand how you feel and that poem for Duke was lovely and I don't "do" poetry. I couldn't face work today but will have to go tomorrow as my boss is pretty heartless and wouldn't see it as a reasonable excuse for more time off. I think I just might have to keep disappearing into the loo as I am having real trouble blubbing all the time!

RIP Lucy may you be in a place where you can eat all the disgusting stuff you like . We love and miss you so much.

I am so very very sorry to hear of your loss.
We lost both our dogs one 5 years ago one 3 years ago and you never ever get over it.
Rest oeacefully Lucy, at least you were with her, a small compensation but you know she didn`t suffer.

Oh Vicky, my heart goes out to you. This is so sad, but at least you know you did everything you could for her and that final lick goodbye was her way of telling you that she understood.

Remember the good times.

so very very sorry to hear your sad news, I lost Billy my cockatiel two weeks ago and I hate coming home to such a quiet house.

be comforted in the knowledge that you loved and cared for her right to the end and remember all the good times.

Picture her perched happily on the shoulder of a lovely bird-loving angel, in a safe-house in heaven! xx

Thanks for all your messages I have just managed the first day without blubbing but I think I'm about to start again! The house is soooo empty even with the birdies. Does anyone think that birds realise another pet is missing? Our BL Too has been with us just under a year and she and Lucy had this relationship where she would chuck her unwanted food on the floor for Lucy to eat. For the past few days since Lucy left us she has been a bit unsettled and constantly looking when she is out of the cage as if she is looking for Lucy. I know for the past few days I've had to get the hoover out more often now my four legged one has gone. It's the silly little things you just miss so much.
