Came in from work, sat in the aviary with the birds and a coffee and noticed that Gucci Galah was sat on the back of Les' chair, instead of on his knee with his head down having his head scritched!

Spoke to him and he made no move at all so on closer inspection, his nares were both very wet , he was sneezing every so often and shaking his head once in a while too!

He also was passing water, nothing solid!!

Brought him in, asked Les what he had been doing and what had he been like all day! les said it had only been the last half an hour or so because he'd been fine all day and playing and ripping the wood apart on the floor, by the chair.

He obviously wasn't well, he wasn't speaking, very unlike Gucci and he was still sneezing and wouldn't eat.

So, a phonecall and I sent Les off to the vets with a very sad looking Gucci, who was falling asleep on the bottom of the travel cage. Shocked

Worried sick, I waited for a phone call, which came an hour later from Chestergates referral hospital!

As soon as he had sat down in the waiting area, Gucci was saying hello to everyone, talking to the dog that was there and generally being ok!

Saw the vet, told her what he had been doing before he became lethargic, so she checked his airways and nares. His beak was slightly open too so I thought he may have had a piece of wood stuck in his throat or even been stung by a wasp!

She thinks that a piece had probably gone up his nose and down that way and into one of his air sacks!! Apparently if something goes into and air sack it produces a fluid and that's probably why his nares were very wet. though when she examined him they were almost dry!

Though I think that maybe it's gone into his crop as when he came home, he preened for ages, being towelled makes them do this and he drank loads, didn't eat.....yet. So maybe he has a 'sore' throat! Poor chickie, these birds worry you sick don't they?

Les says he was on his perch on the way home looking out of the window and talking to the birds! he's gone to bed looking sorry for himself though Crying or Very sad

It's worse then having children isn't it? At least they will tell you if they don't feel well.

Ah bless him, what a worry these birdies are.  Never fussed that much over my kids.

Hope he's OK in the morning.  Poor little Gucci.

Turned the laptop off, snuck in the birdie room to see how he was and I heard him say 'bye bye' in his squeaky galah voice, had a peep at him and he was perched, trying to sleep but someone had disturbed him!!

Well, left strict instructions to phone me at work if he was no better today! Got no phonecall so presumed he must be a bit better, so i phoned at 10.25am to see how he was.

He was a little bit quiet, he has eaten a bit, but just wants a cuddle! Aw, so relieved!

Came home, went straight to see him in the aviary and he siad 'hello babe' and put his head down for a scritch he's just fine, though Les aid he hadn't eaten much today.

Put some cheesy mash potato and a yorkshire pudding in his bowl and he hasn't stopped eating yet!! He seems just fine, thank you all for you wishes

I was worried sick all night and today till I saw him! Still being vigilant but I made him another toy from the softer ply wood in hjis cage and he was busy chewing that all night

Er it could be either Dolchie (as in Dolchie and Gabbana), or Lexxi or Rosie!
