I just did the O&F periodic shop in and I ticked for some harrisons pulse mix.

I've had some yacky failures of trying to sprout in the past, probably due to unclean pulses.  Is the harrisons stuff pre-sterlised or will I still need to wash it for yonks?

Shopping for bird stuff is great but you do sometimes tick boxes knowing full well they will dive on the toy and turn it into quarks in about 30seconds.

I have sprouted versa laga parakeet mix (standard feed). With no problem Sprouting mix always seems so expensive compared to standard mix.

I normally soak mix for 2 hours in water in Pyrex lid, drain water totally. Then wet the seed mix and drain straight away each subsequent day(do not soak, just keep it wet/drained).

Sprouting time will vary depending on seed type/house temp etc.

We do it once in a blue moon with sunflower seeds mainly. Unsure of the nutritional change in sunflower seeds after sprouting. I believe fat content is reduced after sprouting and other vitamin content is increased.(could be wrong)

We have an indian ringneck and he loves it.

Just tried sprouting "Willsbridge foriegn finch" mix. It contains added vegtable, marine and cod liver oil. And to my surprise it also sprouts fine.(left it to soak a little longer due to oil.
