Foodie seems very keen on having a nesting box, or at least a little enclosed 'Hidey Hole'  to climb into.  I've seen the soft material ones but she prefers solid things whilst we wait for the wings to regrow.

Space inside and on top of the cage isn't an issue so can someone give me an idea about these little boxes:

1.  SHould there be more than one entrance?  Should it be a huge entry or a fairly small 'twice oodie diameter'

2.  How do you get inside to clean them?

3.  What happens to the 30cm tail??

4.  What happens if she needs to be undisturbed in it, bearing in mind 'you know who'  will disintegrate it in about 24hrs?

There aren't any baby oodies coming for at least a year but I think she was used to boxes in her old world, she certainly has no issues climbing inside clothes and then beeping like a mobile phone needing a charge.

Meanwhile she still only has 'one noise'  while her mate is like a jukebox.  I've ferreted around and I get the impression that (in the context of alexandrines) the phrase 'males make better talkers' is a massive understatement.  I get the impresson that in her mind there is just "no need"  to make new noises.

1cm to go until ring joins up!

Hi,

Unfortunatly we need a bigger coconut now my baby is no longer a baby  I am sure it will serve as a nest for Foodie whilst not actively encouraging nesting behaviour, and its a great toy after the nesting phase has passed. I also use it as a foraging toy by jamming over sized carrots etc through the middle gap. Pele loves to peek through that gap and shout "peekabird" when you walk past.

Yes it is a squeeky rubber chicken in the back ground and it gets a bloody good scragging, from time .
