Could be a number of reasons, but at 5 years old could very well be hormones, my 5 year old has just started plucking slightly too.  you need to sit down and take a look at what's changed first in the house, list them down, and gradually try and change things back if you can.  If the dog is an issue can he be kept in a seperate room as the parrot for a little while see if that helps? maybe they have given more time to the dog and that caused the parrot to pluck? It's very hard to say, could be any of a number of things.  I would go back to basics now, make a list of what's changed and see if they can be correct, see if that can cure the problem x

It may also only be a temp thing, sometimes it is, sometimes it isnt plucking is such a hard thing to understand at times.  If they need any more help tell them to shout up x

Hi hon ( heather from Ducorps Problem thread) - had same thing happen with my little girl - having to get her a friend via the rescue - tried everything else. It's that time of year - breeding season and though it seems that the ducorps must mature quicker than the greys - I do know with greys this is definately their time to nest down. The only thing I would say is if I had the chance to go back in time I would have got another bird a year ago rather than waiting till she was half bald. She is bald down her tummy - and now going bald on the edges of her wings and back. I am going to be offering my home as a safehouse to help out and find a friend in the process - so why doesn't your daughter do the same. At least that way your bird can find a companion she likes at the same time.

Big hugs

Heather
