Hello.

I can see info about re-homing birds and the fact you need to be a member of Birdline but I have a bird I want to find a home for, He's a white faced Cockatiel, I found him just before winter, he was nearly dead in a field chewing dry grass, I took him home and fed him up but I was unable to trace his owner, I want to rehome him now spring is here, But I don't want him to live indoors in a cage. He made his bid for freedom once.

Is there an option where he won't be given to someone without an aviery? He likes company but not that of humans to much, he bites like mike tyson!

thank you

Kev

Birdline has a section for rehoming birds needing aviaries.
All homes are checked very carefully and suitable facilities found for them, I know the ACOs all work very hard.
If you look on the rehoming section you will see a special section just for aviary birds

Kev,

Well done on saving the life of this little feathered one.

If you ring the national helpline number (at the top of this page) they will take your details and ensure that an ACO comes out to you to collect your precious little one and ensure that he is rehomed in an aviary. I want to reassure you that aviary birds are not just forced into becoming companion birds in small cages. Birdline is ALL about the needs of the bird and if your little one needs an aviary then that's what he/she will get.

The helpline will explain the process for donating a bird and can tell you in more detail what to expect.

I think Lee Ferdinand is the ACO for that area - you should hopefully get a call soon.
