has anybody heard of this?

I swear that my Yellow Thighed Caique has this as at the moment his eyes are swollen, red as is the area above his nares, an angry red.  The same thing happened last year.

just so happens that all the flowering herryu ytrees are all in bloom around the aviaries.  I've kept him in for the last two days and the eys have gone down, only slighlty puffly, not red and the area above the nares are only slightly red, not angry as they were before.

Just so happens that all the flowering cherry trees are all in bloom around the aviaries.  I've kept him in for the last two days and the eys have gone down, only slighlty puffly, not red and the area above the nares are only slightly red, not angry as they were before.

I took him to the vets last year and he said it was unheard of for birds to have hey fever!!

ive never heard of a bird with hayfever, but im sure they all get allergies like we do, i know B&G can be allergic to cockatoo dust and they can get red eyes and problems, wonder if a certain thing in your garden not agreeing with your little one.

hi i just had a look on google ,and they said if you feel your bird has health issues with there eyes ,give them sweet potatoes,,this is a perfect nutritional boost for eye health.if a parrot has rough or dry skin the high beta carotene of sweet potatoes will have a postive effect here to..

Margy do his eyes go crusty at all, or any discharge?  As you know Im interested in this hayfever theory, especially in the caiques.

Billy is allegic to tree pollen. It isn't as bad this year as I have moved across the close away from the railway embankment that is full of May and willow trees. He gets itchy eyes and a slightly snotty nose. I'm hoping the worst is over as for the last few days he hasn't been rubbing his face on me quite so much.

Mandy, he doesn't get any crustiness, discharge from either his nose or eyes.
Just puffy eyes, red nares and eyes. he's been in the last few days and his eyes are very slighly puffy but nothing else!

Yes Sarah, tried Martin the vet and he says it's unheard of for Parrots to have hey fever!!

Like Lorna says, tree pollen allergy or the blossoms that are out now, which are both really hey fever!

When we keep him in, he is fine, if he goes out he gets puffy and red!
