Hi all,

I'm very new to the forum and only joined over the last couple of weeks or so. Have a passion for birds, and pretty much anything animal like to be honest lol.  I have 3 dogs, 2 cats and lots of reptiles, most of which are rescues, and am hoping that myself and my husband will soon be able to offer our help with safe housing for Birdline.  What a great cause!  I had no idea that it existed until someone mentioned it on another forum.

I have some experience with birds.  Used to own a few budgies myself but my grandfather kept aviary upon aviary of exotic and beautiful birds that he used to keep and breed.  I helped him out quite a lot with them when I was younger and my fascination grew.  My uncle also used to rescue and rehabilitate and release Barn owls, some of which unfortunately could not be returned to the wild for different reasons, and I used to spend every weekend helping take care of them.   This all led to me rescuing anything that needed it, so long as I could.

Myself and my husband have always been very jealous of our friends who own parrots and wanted to keep a parrot but never really bit the bullet, due to it not being possible until recently.  On looking into birdline we both felt that safe housing would be a fantastic way for us to get involved and help these little guys out and also what a great pleasure for us too, however I have a lot of researching and learning to do as yet lol.

Nice to meet you all and be part of it.

Hi and welcome to BL and the forum. You'll find us a friendly bunch. Whereabouts in the country are you? I'm in Manchester owned by our 2 BL foster CAGs, Charlie & Joey. I'm sure once your new ACO finds out you're looking to become a safehouse, they'll be doing a homecheck in no time.

Many folk try to 'get together' in chat around 8.30pm(ish) on Mondays and Thursdays and it can be a great way to meet other BLers.

Well done - to Maria on being approved and to Tina on finding a new safehouse. Be warned Maria, this is just the start of the addiction.
