Has anyone ever heard of any treatments for separation anxiety? My husband tells me that my galah alarm calls all the time when I am not here.

I have been out for five hours today and he is at his wits end, any ideas anyone. A friend mentioned that pheromone treatment was very successful with dogs, does anyone know if anything similar has been tried with birds?

Sharon
All of the Cockatoos are doing the same at the moment, Bloo wants to be with me all the time, Coral is screaming constantly, Misha is 'telephoning all day' and Megan has totally lost the plot, and you KNOW that doesnt happen here generally, just try and bear with it it will stop.

Try putting him out in he garden if its a nice day for a bit and break the cycle. Rosie Galah is beiing a night mare!!

Sharon I can only endorse what Sheila is saying, too's are 'velcro' at the best of times, but at the moment its more like superglue and then some. Ella is constantly screamming and if I am not fast enough snips a feather as if to punish me for not being quick enough. Magic galah feels she has rights to John and gawd help anyone who comes near him, and if he tries to leave the room without her she dive bombs him as punishment. Peetee is just bouncing up and down all the time screaming helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooo just incase we don't know he's there, and he is guarding the TV from anyone and everything. Nelson who is a very large male U2 is actually the best behaved, but is taking hours to settle down at night and destroying anything he can get his beak to. My other FIDS are all 'nowty' in one way or another or just plain sexy. magic has humped John's elbow raw, Nelson has a love affair going with a broom, and Ella is trying to make a nest in my bra whilst I am still wearing it. I have got myself a beautiful 6 x 6 outside aviary which I have yet to put up, and once its been made water proof...then I am going to try and get them out as much as I can, try and change their surroundings. I have got through pine blocks, paper rolls, coconut shells, and fruit wood like no-ones business in the attempt to distract. Ear plugs maybe your hubby needs earplugs

My one aim is to serve the parrots in my care, to help those to weak to defend themselves, and bring alittle happiness into their lives, I prefer parrots to people but can handle them in moderation :)
