This is a Heads Up to anyone who uses Alan Jones in Surrey as their Avian Vet.  Alan is retiring at the end of March, and will not be available any more... This is indeed a blow to those of us who know Alan, and his committment to the birds. If you click on the link:

www.birdvet.co.uk

you will see that Alan has put forward suggested Avian vets available in the area he covered. I am hugely disappointed to lose him, he was sometimes abrupt with people, but unfailingly gentle and knowledgeable with birds, always on the end of an email or telephone call, and always willing to deal with emergency at any time at all. He'll be a hard act to follow.

So sorry to hear that Alan Jones is retiring - he has always been very reassuring and kind to us and our CAG Salty especially one Sunday morning when Salty had an asthma attack, when he talked us through the problem, and we are now so much more confident on getting him through it.  I am now so much calmer when he has an attack, as he did last Monday...  Mr Jones had told us that he thinks it is due to over-preening.  Fortunately, Orpington is only a few miles further for us than Mr Jones's surgery.
