My Daisy Grey's like that. She doesn't like birds in general, and hates Greys in particular, then she will sometimes choose a Grey to really HATE, and would walk a country mile over broken glass to get to it and kill! Daisy came to us from being Fostered - they wanted a companion for their own Grey. She drew blood twice on that bird, so was given back. We've had her for around 6 years or so, she's clipped once a year, and she seems to have got the message that she can't fly. She can, actually, in the winter, but there's a strong similarity between her flight and that of bricks.... Anyhow, she stays on her cage most of the time, but loves to climb down and have a wander. We keep her as far away as poss from other Greys, and keep an eye. I once caught her in another Grey's cage, she was on top, every feather at right-angles, with him on his back on the floor. I pulled her off, none too gently, and luckily he was ok, just a bit scared. He'd done nothing wrong, he wasn't ill, just Daisy being Daisy. We've learned to watch her, and mostly she stays put. It's a bit like having a toddler, you need eyes in the back of your head. I think if she took that strong a dislike to a permanent stayer here, I would have to make a decision, which one to move on. Daisy would probably stay, because it takes a long time for her to bond to someone, much longer than is usual, so the other bird would have to go. We have a lot of birds that go through here, many of which are Greys. I don't envy you your problem, but you do learn to live with it, deal with it, put up with it, and it can be a pain! Doddie |
