   Looking for Homes (Cockatoo)
Darcy the Lesser Sulpher Crested Cockatoo - C41

Hello my name is Darcy. I am a lesser sulphur crested cockatoo, I am unsure of my age.

My safehouse Dad says I’m a cheeky boy who is always on the go. I like my cuddles and tickles especially under the wings, I’ll lift both for you tickle. I do talk but not a lot, this may change if I do not have too many birds round me. I don’t mind other birds but think I would benefit from being on my own or with just one other. I will step up for you, but I have to check that your hand is a stable place to stand first by giving it a little nip, my dad says it doesn’t hurt (more of a pinch). I’m not particularly noisy, but when I want something or if dinner is cooking you certainly know I’m there!! Talking of dinner - I love my food, if you give it to me, I’ll eat it!! I enjoy my toast in the morning and like to share your dinner too. I’m very entertaining and will run around my cage, jumping from perch to perch- it’s just my way of making you laugh. I do like being out, but understand when you have to go out or to work, give me plenty of toys and I’ll be happy for a few hours. I don’t mind kids or dogs as long as they don’t poke their fingers or noses in my cage. Talking of cages… I do have my own cage and it is ok, but wouldn’t mind at all if you wanted to treat me to a new one (with lots of new toys). Please consider me for a forever home - you know I’m worth it.

I’m currently dwelling in Cannock, Staffordshire and have my own cage.

Syd the Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo - SE73

Hello my name is Syd and I am a Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo.

I'm a fairly friendly boy, and I'm looking for a home that is not too lively but not too quiet either. I used to live in a conservatory on my own and didn't get much human company, so I don’t trust very easily and I get a little upset if you try to touch me, because I'm not used to it. I find it hard to trust people but I'm the same as most Cockatoos, if I like someone, then fine, if I don't, then I don't. My Safe House dad lives on his own, except for 4 dogs and another two birds. I am cage territorial, and dad insists on putting his hands in my cage. I'm relaxed about the dogs, as long as they don't come too close. The other birds aren't very interesting to me so I ignore them, unless they land on my cage, and then I get scared and will fly away, although I'm clipped so don't get very far. I do make a noise when the Amazon in my home starts to yell - I like to join in, and sometimes I also join in with the television. I do get scared of strange things being put in my cage, like new perches or toys. I don't like things that are brightly coloured. I feel more secure with quite a strict routine. If I'm out of my cage when it's bedtime you can say to me "Come on Syd, bed time, and I'll get into my cage. I'll know what you expect of me. I respond quicker with a solid routine and given time I may even learn to step up onto your hand. Is there someone out there that wants a small challenge? I'll try to be good.

I have my own cage, and am living in Surrey at the moment.

Angel the Umbrella Cockatoo - SE84

Hello my friends, my name is Angel and l am looking for a new forever Daddy & Mummy - can you please help me?

I love playing outside of my cage, plus l love snuggling up with you. l love lots & lots of cuddles. My safehouse Daddy says there is nothing better than a cuddle from an Umbrella Cockatoo to make you feel better awww!! One thing l must say I love my food (Just try me with anything and see if l will eat it). I need a new forever Mummy & Daddy who are not scared of Cockatoos and know our little Cockatoo ways. I do not mind other birds as my safehouse has a lot here, there is also a dog which I am okay with. I am afraid I don't know how I will react to children as I have not really had much to do with them. I love sitting on my Daddies shoulder and going outside in the fresh air, currently I have a wing clip. When l go to my forever home please give me a few days to settle in, as we Cockatoos can be a bit nervous at first, (what are a few days when we have got the rest of our lives together). That's about all from me, so until we meet take care. Big love & cuddles Angel xxx

I am currently living in Canterbury, Kent. l have been given a cage as my old cage was so big it scared me (but l would like a new one).

Dillon the Bare Eyed Cockatoo - C174

Hi my name is Dillon. I am a beautiful Bare Eyed Cockatoo looking for a new home.

I love men but am not at all keen on women! I don’t have any experience of other birds or pets so can’t comment on whether I will tolerate them or not. I can’t be rehomed where there are children. My ideal home would be where there would be a male main carer who could spend much of his day with me, as I do demand attention. I can be very noisy when I am not getting the attention I feel I deserve! I am happiest when I can sit with my Daddy and cuddle up all day. I will eat anything that you give me and if you don’t give me a bit of what you are eating I will keep shouting until you give me some! I will make someone a really loving companion for life so please give me a home.

I do come with a cage but it has seen better days so I will need a new one as soon as possible! I am in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Frankie the Citron Crested Cockatoo - C111

Hello my name’s Frankie, a Cockatoo and a happy little man!

My safe house mum thinks I am great and I like her too. I am not keen on men though and will lunge at them, they are ok if they are just talking to me. I can talk back and say things like “Hello Frank” and “Good Boy”. I also bark like a dog and my safehouse Mum laughs at me when I bark at her, she says it’s a nicer noise than my calling noise which can be a bit loud (but doesn’t last long). I love to dip a biccie into a cup of tea as a treat, and will eat pretty much anything given to me!  My safehouse Mum can tickle and cuddle me, but it has to be on my terms. I will need an experienced person who is used to the Cockatoo behaviour as I'm quite unpredictable. For this reason I cannot be rehomed where there are children. I can however share my new home with cats and dogs as I will tolerate them. Oh and if you love music then I will be really happy, I have movesssss baby and love music. I will need a nice new cage as I don’t have one, but could you make sure there’s loads of newspaper in it, as I've found out its really good to hide in it and play peek a boo. So to close I would like a home with a female carer and no children. I am learning to trust men but they might just have to accept that I will never really like them!

I am in Taunton Somerset and as previously mentioned will need a cage!

Rosie the Galah Cockatoo - C167

Hello everyone, my name's Rosie, and I'm the most beautiful bird on the planet. I know that's true, because everybody says so.

Being beautiful is hard work, so I'm a bit bad-tempered sometimes, but “treat-em mean, keep-em keen” is my motto. I don't like men - I really, honestly, don't like men. Ladies however, that's different! When you stroke me (I like to be stroked) you'll be amazed how soft and smooth I am. My Safe House Mum says it's like silk covered in talcum powder. To keep in tip top condition I will accept a spray, but I don’t like to get sticky. This means I don’t like to eat fruit, and when I do you have to cut it up into small pieces for me! Peas in the pod are nice, as is sweetcorn. I'm not bothered about other birds, as long as they don't come too close, but I have no experience of other pets. I cannot be rehomed with children though. I love to dance, and I'm a very nifty mover. Music with a beat, lovely! Well that’s me - I don’t really know what else to say, other than I am not demanding, nor am I noisy and I can talk a little … so “night night, night night, night night”.

I Have my own cage and am currently in Surrey.

Jack the Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo - C145

Hello my name is Jack and as you can see I’m a beautiful LSC Cockatoo.

I am living with my safehouse Daddy at the minute but I love all the visitors, men, women or children who come to visit. I would rather not be rehomed with young children (perhaps 10yrs or older is ok). I love lots of attention and will shout for you when I want it. I can be noisy at times but I am a Cockatoo after all! I enjoy cuddles and tickles, but when I step up for my safehouse Daddy I run straight onto his shoulder or round the back of his neck, so I will need a new Mum or Dad confident enough to teach me not to do that. Eating is a favourite pastime for me, and I’m trying new and different things all the time. I hope my new home will continue to introduce new foods. I don’t mind dogs - they don’t bother me, but it’s unknown if I have ever lived with cats or other birds before. I’m hoping there is a fabulous home waiting for me, as I am a very loving boy.

I don’t come with a cage I’m afraid. Could you get me a lovely new one – call it a Christmas present! I am living in Burton-On-Trent.

Charlie the Ducorps Cockatoo - C71

Hello, my name is Charlie and I am a stunning Cockatoo.

I keep myself looking this good by taking regular showers. I don’t need my own shower I’ll just share yours! I am a real funny guy and I will have you in stitches. If you like cuddles I will give loads, I love it when you ruffle my feathers, sometimes I’ll roll over so you can do my tummy! If I am not in the mood though I will take myself off to the back of the sofa where I will walk up and down saying “Hello Charlie”. Then when I am back in the mood I’ll hop down onto your knee. I don’t just say ‘hello’, I ask what you are doing and I will tell you to let me out and at the end of the day I wish you ‘night-night’. I am a playful guy and like men, women and children (women are best though), but I should mention I don't like dogs! I need to have an eye kept on me when I am out, as I love getting up to mischief. I am a bit of a fussy eater and tend to prefer my ‘treats’ to anything that is good for me so your challenge is to get me to eat ‘healthy’. I’ve got a lot of love to give and will brighten up every day because I am a little ray of sunshine.

I am living in Bolton but don’t have my own cage unfortunately.

Chalky the Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo - SW64

Hello my name is Chalky, I am 20 years old and I am a slightly scruffy but lovable Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, who just wants to be loved.

I am looking for a home where there is someone in all day or most of the day as I do not like being left on my own. If you do have to leave me for a little while please leave the TV or radio on as I like to think you are still around! I am a lovely boy who can say "hello Chalky", my safehouse Mum says I have a Cockney accent, whatever that means! I am quite quiet for a Cockatoo but I do like attention and will let you know I'm there if you ignore me! I have plucked in the past but my safehouse think this is because I was depressed after my mate died, we were together for 20 years so I am still missing her. I seem to have stopped plucking now but need lots of attention to make sure I don't start again. I will step up nicely on to your arm if you let me, but I do use my beak alot to balance so please don't be worried, I only nip if I get over excited (but not aggressively so)! I love to come out of my cage and will sit on your knee and have cuddles for hours! I do get tired and grumpy though if I've been out for a while, so please make sure I get regular breaks and some timeout in or on my cage. I'm a little mischievous and seem to have a personal vendetta against mobile phones and remote controls so please don't leave me alone with them! I also like shredding paper in my cage and chewing my perches. I don't tend to play with my toys though, I prefer attention from you! I am a lovely boy who is not looking at his best, but I know that with lots of love and attention I will soon be beautiful again and I have a lot of love to give. I am a really nice natured bird who will make someone a lovely companion and would love a forever house to call home and my own people to love.

I am in Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway and I am afraid I do not have a cage.

Tommy the Goffin Cockatoo - N83

Hello, my name is Tommy. I am a Goffin Cockatoo looking for a loving home.

I am about 8 years old and can be very affectionate. I can say "hello" and often meow like a cat for fun. I enjoy cuddles from ladies most of all, and won’t hesitate to let the men in the house know who is boss! I enjoy lots of attention, and being out of my cage for as long as possible. I am afraid I don’t like other birds, cats or dogs and young children make me nervous, so it is best if I go to a home with none of these! I will occasionally pluck my feathers if I don't like something. I am a good eater and my favourite foods are toast, noodles and chicken, but I always have room for fresh fruit. If you are not careful, when I am out of my cage I may pinch a sneaky peck of your drink whilst you’re not looking. Shredding newspaper or cardboard can be lots of fun, otherwise I am fond of my mirrors and spiral rope. I don't like stepping up on your arm whilst in my cage, but will do so when I have made my own way out of it. I dance, jump and nod "yes" and shake my head "no", and can be a bit noisy when I want attention, but in the right hands I am a good 'chick' with kisses to spare.

I have my own cage and am in Poynton, Cheshire.

Saffie the Ducorps Cockatoo - DK95

"Hello" my name is Saffie, I am a Ducorps Cockatoo and I am about 18 months old now - so just a baby.

I am told by everyone that I am very handsome, which of course I agree with totally. I'm a very sweet boy and will greet you with a "hello" when you come in the room. At the moment that’s all I say. I am trying to say other words but they come out a bit mumbled still, well everyone has to learn. I am a very playful little man who loves nothing better than to roll about with my toys on my safehouse settee. I like to lie on my back whilst I play too. If there is a blanket there I will pretend to hide under it, so my safehouse Mum can't find me - hehe!! I do like to sit on your knee or your shoulder and have cuddles from you humans, (well the ladies anyway). They tell me I am a ladies man so I am looking for a home where there is a nice lady who will look after me. I don’t mind men, but prefer ladies. I don’t like cats I’m afraid, but I’m ok with dogs. They have 3 noisy little ones here and I generally just ignore them now that I am used to them. I don’t have any experience with children so would say that a home without young ones would be best. I am a good eater but you need to feed me little and often as if I have a big bowlful I just tip it out! Please ladies if you think you could offer me a lovely home, get in touch with those nice rehoming people. I would love to come and live with you, although my safehouse Mummy will miss me loads - she keeps telling me!

I have my own cage and am living in my safehouse in Lincoln.

Malibu the Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo - SW107

YooHoo!! Hello everyone, it's me Malibu the Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. I am approx 16 years old and simply stunning - don't you agree?

I am a bit of a ladies man, I love the ladies but am not so keen on men I am afraid. I don't like children, but it's ok if you have other birds or cats or dogs as I am used to those. I can be very clingy so ideally I would like a home where the lady of the house is home much of the day. I can be noisy if she is out of sight for too long and will scream for her. I can step up, but again only for the lady of the house. I enjoy being out of my cage and getting cuddles, and when I am in the cage I like to play with my toys and I like the odd magazine (to shred, not to read of course!). I am a good eater and enjoy a good quality seed mix, fresh fruit and I like to have a bit of what you are eating too. My favourite treats are cheese crackers. Do you have room in your life for me?

I come with my own cage and am currently in Torquay, Devon.

Welcome to the Cockatoo Re-homing List.

The Cockatoos in this section are looking for very specific homes. Cockatoos by their very nature require a dedicated and experienced home. Cockatoos behaviour is very different to most other parrots, and because of this only experience Cockatoo handlers are likely to be accepted to home them.

IMPORTANT - Please be sure that you have read the
Re-homing Information before applying for a bird.

Once you have read and understood the instructions you can apply for a bird by submitting a re-homing application.

Please also remember that we are all volunteers and as such it may take a few days to get back to you.
